This is the type I havehttp://www.homedepot.com/p/BrassCraft-1-4-in-x-25-ft-Power-Pistol-Grip-Drum-Auger-BC86250/202755049There might be a slight problem though... don't you hate when I say that!  Under that box in the wall where the drain pipe is there is a P trap to keep sewer gases from getting in your house. Auger snakes have a hard time with small narrow ones, your pipe is probably 1 1/2 or 2 inch PVC. You might want to try the industrial strength Drano first. Any blockage is probably a mix of soap scum and lint. 4951

@Chrisinkingwood: I tried that this weekend.  I can still only get about a pitcher of hot water down the drain so I am hoping it is right there(I know, wishful thinking).  Right now I am doing laundry with the drain from the wash machine in a large rubber maid.  I just wasn't sure if I needed 1/4, 3/8 or 1/2" and how long it should be...I have seen 25, 50, and 100 ft.  I know 100ft is too much.

@Chrisinkingwood:I saw that one on Amazon, I think I will try it-thanks!  I have a feeling I will be needing it later anyway.On another note, DH and I fixed the other issue Emoticon 4951
