I am considering expanding my spiritual counseling services into a center to include meditation, yoga and holistic nutrition/health. Does anyone feel this would be helpful? Do you think it might be welcomed or scorned in Kingwood? I am looking at creating a center similar to this.......   http://www.awakenwholelifecenter.com/Please provide constructive feedback.Dr. G 4951

Wow, a whole center devoted to that? I'm sure the electric bill is astounding. Also gotta admire that battery supply closet. 4951

For those prices I can take a weeks vacation.

Not what my girlfriend and I would be doing if we actually got a few days off either. 4951

@BooBear:

How do you meditate completely when someone is wheezing next to you. The smells of over used perfumes, etc.

I meditate in the morning after dh leaves, I meditate after he goes to bed.
He massages me and vise-versa. Doesn't cost near half a grand. If I want and do use cucumber on my eyes etc.
I exercise though out my day, I have bingo cards with exercises on them. I try to either get a line bingo or full card. Doing 50 squats is easy, I can't do regular push ups but found my overstuffed leather chair is perfect height to do them at an angle. Due to back issues some are done on my bed. When I told my dr I actually expected him to laugh. He takes care of sports medicine and said great. When golfers, ball players etc get hurt they often workout on softer surfaces.
I don't think a high dollar spa can accommodate certain issues. And that's a lot of money. Way to bright. 4951

@beadweaver:
There is so much material here that I don't even know where to begin. My head is literally spinning.

We use meditation on this board as code for masturbation because it just seems nicer and Joe doesn't lock our threads.

@gman3707:  Okay, all joking aside, I don't think meditation in the true sense of the word (not our version) would be scored at all. As long as you have a solid client base and aren't doing anything illegal, it's pretty much live and let live around here.  Those who do not partake might not understand or attend, but they won't run you out of town, either. There are a lot of people who prefer holistic methods for stress relief and general overall health, so you might find a good following. Me, I prefer a Xanax and a drink.  I hate needles but if I get stuck with a needle, I want it to contain the good stuff that will work quickly (like Demerol before a procedure), not an empty acupuncture needle, but no judgment from me at all. I believe holistic works for those who are whole-heartedly into it and make the time to live it.  I just don't take the time.

@gman3707: Well I think it could work in Kingwood. We have a fair amount of people with disposable income who are looking for alternatives to standard spas or wellness. Yoga is pretty common and some exercise places offer it but it certainly helps if you can have a mix of things like the place in the link you posted. Wellness includes many parts of the body and mind. I can't see it being "scorned" here and it should be successful if you market it well and have a solid client base to build on. Hope that is constructive advice!

@beadweaverVery good point beadweaver. The website listed was only to show the type of services I'd like to provide. The prices on the website include room and board. As I had planned on only services at a fraction of that cost and/or monthly memberships.Thanks for the comment though, because I'm sure someone else would be thinking the same... 4951
