I was thinking of a new ironing board or a new vacuum cleaner.  Any thoughts? Actually leaning towards some earrings or a few charms for her bracelet. It think it is Pandora bracelet. She likes those. I gave her a garbage disposal one year and a really nice Hitachi compound miter saw another year. That didn't go over so wellSuggestions are welcome. I took her to Paris one year.... 4951

My husband bought me the most amazing bike for Mother's Day. Got it at Bike Werks and made sure it was all pimped out with rear baskets, a bell, and a super comfy seat. It's allowed me to enjoy the greenbelts and for us to ride together as a family.James Avery has some really beautiful jewelry. 4951

I'd lean more towards international travel thing than the ironing board. 4951

Does she like wine? Surprise her with a trip around Texas and do a wine tour? Tell her to pack a bag for 2-3 days and just hit the road. Along the way, stop at all of the cool little antique shops or where ever she likes. 4951

I like donnatellas idea. Throw in a bed and breakfast in the hill country and make it a romantic weekend getaway. Some places will even stock your room with champagne and flowers or set you up for a couples massage.

for my 30th my husband sent me to the spa for a day, massage, facial, lunch, mani pedi, makeup and hair. Then he rented a car service and took me out to dinner and the opera. We met friends at the opera and all went out for drinks after in our chauffeured car. It was a blast and such a great surprise! 4951

You could take her to a very nice dinner tomorrow night and tell her that you want to take her on a trip....anywhere she wants to go. Once she decides, call the travel agent and get to planning and take her right away. Tell her 65 should be celebrated all year and in a very big way, and you want it to just be perfect. So, starting with dinner, it's all about her. Make the planning with her part of the celebration. The gift is the extra time spent and the focus on her leading up to the trip you plan together.

Not every gift has to be given on the birthday itself. 4951

OK, well she has really been enjoying this Pandora charm bracelet that she got as a present last year and has charms that represent many of the grandkids but not one from me or about love or that stuff. I went to Alspaugh's and picked out 2 charms, one is called Forever Entwined and the other is a heart shape that says "My Beautiful Wife".  And I got a card. Yes a trip would be good, but she is our CFO and pretty much tells me what I can spend so that will be a hard one to slip by.  But we will be doing some travel later on so we might add in a special side trip.  She generally likes simple gifts so the charms will be an unexpected surprise. She hasn't relished the thought of turning 65. Headed to Galveston this afternoon, she is down there all week so I plan to stay a few days. We are going out to dinner tonight and meeting up with some old friends down there tomorrow. 4951
