These are 2 shots I've been editing. Everyone loves a lighthouse photo but let me tell you they aren't easy. Depending on the roads around them or the lighting conditions. So I went to this lighthouse on the west coast of Wales several times. I got 2 shots I like... one on a cloudy stormy day and one on a sunny day.Tell me which one you prefer. Same lighthouse and probably the same horses. Just different lighting and a whole lot of post editing. I'd love to show you how crappy they looked before I edited them. Light houses aren't easy, you have to wait for the big light to spin around and catch it and that's not always easy. Wish I could show you them full frame... Just interested in what others prefer.PS: I prefer the stormy one myself but the sunny one is also ok. 4951

Sunny one.
Lighthouses are suppose to be mysterious and seen from a distance. The stormy one is too close imo.

@mm4731: Agreed.

Just noticed that the sunny one has some upside down junk action in the clouds.

@mm4731: Really?!?!?Top right side?

Normally, I prefer things to be in sharp focus.  The cloudy one is in sharper focus but the depth perception is lost.   It makes the lighthouse look like it's right up against the coast line.I hated Penthouse back in college because they preferred to use soft-focus on their models. Either putting hair-spray or vaseline on the lenses.  Each month, my room-mate and I made a trip to a little convenience store just outside of Ruston, LA.  He would buy the new Playboy and I would buy the new Penthouse. 4951

@BBQguy: What?!?! I'm shocked and stunned. I don't have d**k pics to share but I do have d**k straws...both in bright colors and flesh color.

@Chrisinkingwood: My preference is the second one. I just like stormy scenes. Not everything in life is rainbows and sunshine. The dark and stormy background adds mystery, grit and a little suspenseful drama to the imagination as you try to picture what is coming next in the scene. You can imagine the cool stormy breeze coming off the water, just ahead of the storm as it blows in and the wind whips around right before the rain. 4951

You can also just edit out the background and replace it. 4951

I like the sunny one.  I grew up over there, so I know how much rarer the sunny shot must be.Both are great shots though.  Where in Wales is this? 4951

Top one, the color of the water is beautiful and shouldn't be down played IMO. 4951

@Chrisinkingwood:  Can't you just smell the upcoming storm?  Look at the chop on the water.  Something is brewing, for sure.  Good snuggle and nap weather.
