Gas vs. glass top. They both have their advantages, I know. My mom had a gas stove when she lived in Kingwood then bought a house with a glass top stove in montgomery. She always missed her gas stove for the even cooking, but she liked the ease of cleaning it as well as the sleek look. I'm going from a standard electric coil top, so I am really torn. 4951

The only thing I like better about electric stove tops is that the handles on the pots don't get hot. 4951

If you like to cook I'd go with gas - instant on, instant off, can get lots of power. If you don't, then the glass top is probably sufficient and somewhat easier to clean. 4951

Loved the gas cooktop we got in our old house, prior to selling.  Have glass top now.  It cleans up well and looks nice but just doesn't cook like gas. 4951

Glass = electric Gas with sealed burners and a cast iron pot cooks very evenly. 4951

@HollyHobby:  They seem easier to regulate and control the heat.  I've only had one electric glasstop and I wasn't a fan at all.  At least with a gas top, you can see the flame and easily control the heat.  And another big plus, if the power goes out, you can still cook.

Our new home has no gas so I would lean toward glass.  After reading @Fallon's review though, I would stick with the coil electric because DH has tons of cast iron he likes to cook with. 4951

I do all the cooking at our home and I like gas for the stove and electric for the oven. My parents had a glass electric stove and I could never get it right. 4951
