If she needs 8-5, she should apply to as many temp agencies as she can. When I started out doing temp work with no experience, they would send me for 3-5 day filing jobs. If she can alphabetize, she can file. The agencies will test her skill levels. If she is good with word and excel, she can earn more per hour and attain more challenging assignments.
If she needs evening work, she should consider waiting tables. That will yield the highest earnings per hour for most beginner evening work. But tell her to steer clear of breakfast joints and diners that don't serve alcohol. She will get discouraged quickly.
If she is good with children, she could offer in-home childcare. There is a huge demand. She could start by offering more competitive rates until she becomes licensed.
