My middle one is on my last nerve. The little guy wants to turn off the tv, it's a throw down temper tantrum by the 5.5-yr old bc HE wanted to turn off the tv. If his older brother looks at him the wrong way, it's automatic meltdown: "G is being MEAN TO ME! WAHHHH!"He's loud, he's dramatic and OMG does it drive me up the wall. I tell him to go upstairs to his room if he is going to act like that bc my nerves can't take it. AND I understand the whole "it's valid feelings to him" load, but this goes on SEVERAL (like upwards of 8-10) times a day. Thank goodness there is only one week left until school starts. Suggestions (besides drinking heavily - it's putting on too much weight) and locking him in his room is against the law. 4951

Bust his little ***!

Then send him to his room until he remembers how to behave around other people. He is doing it because he can.

Or you throw yourself on the ground in a screening fit when he doesn't do something you like. 4951

I know some don't agree but in my house that got you a spanking.. and I took away whatever mattered most to them....   video game, favorite toy or movie, something was taken away.. I have been known to bag up all there toys untill the behavior changes..  Sending a kid to a room where they have toys, tv, video games and so forth is no punishment.... Hell - wish someome would send me to my room.. lol 4951

Drugs, alcohol and beatings?
That's the advice?
How about letting him go take a bath? He'll play for house till he's pruning.
Outside playing with the hose sprinkler.
Give him something to clean.
I used to have a basket with little kits in it. They only got to pick one. I kept it for the I'm bored so I'm gonna see how annoying I can be times.

You could tell him you take that as a sign he wants a nap and you think he should go lay down on his bed.
Sooner or later he's gonna knock off going for a nap.

He'll grow out of it when he's.......
Oh who am I kidding. They never grow out of it.
Have a drink. 4951

@beadweaver - he's obsessed with cleaning. I let him vacuum on Fridays, but he takes upwards of 30 minutes with one room - turning the machine off and on several times. He's high maintenance, always bored no matter what I find for him to do. He loses interest rather quickly and is always looking for validation or attention or help. The problem is that I work - we're in a not-so-ideal situation due to childcare issues, so until school starts next Tuesday for the older two, I'm working from home with all 3. The only combo of them that does NOT work together is #2 and #3. Only 3 days left to do this, as I'm off Fri and Mon. I'm interrupted every 5 minutes about something. Grrrrr.... 4951

You know you could fix this @ctl74, if you just had another baby.  Then BAM, no more middle child syndrome. That is the only cure.

You can spank
Take away everything he loves
Walk away and leave the room or the house
Lock him in his room
Or what i Still do from time to time. Make them bite and hold a bar of soap in their mouth. That will get their attention fast. If they remove it from their mouth time starts over 4951

Sit in the middle of the floor and cry your *** off. Just let all your frustration out, and loud. He's gonna come over and ask you what's the matter. Then you yell, "you're mean!!Then walk away. LOL. I really did that once, worked like a charm. They KNOW what mean is!! And they still have a conscious at 5.Emoticon 4951
