Anyone go to this? I think it's on Saturdays? I was thinking of getting a booth once I am done with my swim lessons at the end of the month. I haven't gone, what's there? If it's all sencey and that junk. It's not worth it for me. But if it's actual crafts, might be worth it. Thoughts? 4951

Way to rich for my pocket. 100 bucks for 4 hours. I'm an artist not a reseller. That and I hear they throw kids booths in with real hard working trained artists.
I've never actually been as it popped up right after me doing an un responded to demographic survey.
It's my concept mishmashed together.

That's the second time I met with people or mentioned what I would like to do and this happened. Won't bother again.

What is it that you create?
I work in all mediums from paper to glass fusing it to 1500 degrees. 4951

@beadweaver: Thank you!  Good to know, that is what I was afraid of.  I also craft from hand, so $100 is a lot when I only sell my items for $10-$25.  I make custom dog collars and leashes.  I wish we had a REAL craft market here in Kingwood.  Where I grew up on Long Island (NY), we had one every fall and it was amazing.  It was held at the library and the artists were fabulous.  Only handcrafted stuff, no resellers or the like.  Wish we had something like that here.  Maybe I will look into starting something...I will pass on this one I think.  Emoticon

I agree with @beadweaver. I crochet - some of my items take a while to create ( afghans and more intricate sweaters). I did some research and most crocheter/ knitters never make a profit with these type of craft fairs- the fee is too high and the client base is too low.  Most of them set up web sites or pages and do custom work. I've had some contact with the lady through the rescue group I work with- she waives the fees for animal rescues- but I haven't actually been to the event. I too think I'll pass. 4951

TCPA, are working on our first Saturday Night Crafts market in the Park at the end of this month. The problem with limiting it to real crafts only is that you have to have high booth fees to pay the expenses. By broadening it to some of the commercial items we will have a booth fee of $40. We plan to have live music and a food vendor. Details will be available tomorrow on our website www.towncenterevents .com. 4951

@tonyaust:

Thanks but no thanks. You did this right after I came to the community with a concept survey.
You mashed my concept and screwed it up. I will never participate or attend.
Anything I have done in Kingwood or Humble is nothing but a reseller meet up you pay to network.
No street teams, no advertising, NO JUICE.

If you don't have JUICE or know what JUICE is you ain't got it.

Booth fees of 100 bucks for 4 hours for an un established market is greedy too.

Omg what part of L.I? I was in Great Neck for a few years.
I would love to get together with like minded artists in the area. Maybe we can meet up and put a small market together. Maybe some trunk shows.
@Jpgurl
Yes it takes a lot of time and money to create something from scratch.
Then you loose a day hoping someone will purchase. You don't make a profit until all expenses are met.
I'd love to share with you ladies what I have worked out. I have a list of over 500 local artists with real talent.
I won't say too much more here as she seems to take it and twist it. I've worked way to hard on plan o grams, research, etc to just give it to her.

@beadweaver: I grew up in West Islip, but before I moved to Texas I was working at USMMA in Great Neck.  Man, do I miss those kids!  Let's definitely make plans to get together and try and put a market together.  Any day but Wednesdays are good for me (until the pools close, then Wednesdays are okay!)  I know a few vendors as well.  This is the one I was talking about in WI: westislipcountryfair .com/.  They have them all over Long Island throughout the fall and they are wonderful.  And I know a few people who participate in them and they make a ton of money!  I really want to find a good one to do.  I can do the planning, shoot, I am already planning a golf outing this year....why not!  Besides Barkfest, I haven't really found a good event to do. I do the Help Lauren Learn, but mostly because I know the Daley Family.  Any other suggestions would be helpful!

@allymansfield: Do you make ones for holidays etc?  What about bandanas for dogs?  My Becca needs more, she has a St Patricks Day one and a Harley Girl one.  Have not found anything on line that I really like for the $$ and I am not very crafty.

Yes let's get together. Any day and time is good for me. No babies, no kiddos to run. Boo hoo.
The one pleasure of aging. Lol
I refuse to grow up and act 55. If I do, I will surely grow old and cease to be alive.

Years ago I went to my HOA and wanted to create an art program for everyone. They laughed at me. Then they continued to complain their kids had nothing to do. SMH

We can meet in the park so your little one can play.
I love being outside.

There are a few markets around including Houston. I have gone to observe and people watch. A lot turn out to be the same artists and little cliques.

Custom collars and leashes? Hank needs some new ones.

@tatertot58: I am in the process of working on updating my website, it sucks big ones right now...LOL.  But I have over 200 different patterns/designs.  I just ordered my fall/thanksgiving/christmas ribbons, but I do have a bunch of seasonal stuff now too.  Basically, I started out getting my ribbons locally from craft stores, then when my business took off I realized I had to start buying in bulk, so now I order spools of 100+ yards at a time!  I am phasing out my "small spool" stuff now and trying to get my website to be a little more comprehensive.  Anyway....I am located in Trailwood Village if you want to come by and take a look at what I have right now.  What size does your dog wear in a collar?  I can pull that size to make it easier for you to look.  My stuff is pretty reasonably priced, considering you can't get it anywhere but from me!  Emoticon  $12-16 for a collar $15-17 for a leash, and $15-25 for a leash/collar set.  I also give discounts if you buy more than one thing, which most people do because (if I do say so myself) I have lots of cute stuff!  Send me a PM and I'll give you my address and phone number and we can set up a time for you to come over and take a look!  My email is Ally@GreenPawProducts.com

@beadweaver: Sounds good!  Yeah, the HOA's are not very bright.  I wanted to rent our pool a few mornings a week (pay to rent and pay for the guards) so I could do group swim lessons.  They said no.  Yet they continue to complain how the pool costs them so much money....huh?!  Ugh, anyway...I did a ton of lessons this year without them taking a cut, so it worked out well!  My little guy is only 7 months, so I can containerize him and go anywhere!  If you want to see some collars and leashes, you can come here to Trailwood and I can show you what I have in stock right now.
