Friendswood Development Company is adding a new 740-acre community to Kingwood. The new Royal Brook section could house at least 2,000 residents, and will feature a gated community as well. The Montgomery/Harris County line runs through the proposed subdivision.Read More:http://blog.chron.com/primeproperty/2015/08/kingwood-to-grow-as-friendswood-plans-major-expansion/ 4951

@thetarget9: I think that is in some long term plan but nobody has funded it that I know about.  Once the Grand Parkway makes the turn south in a few years, it will be a viable outlet for Kingwood.

And notice that they still have Kingwood Drive projected to cut through East End Park and connect with the Kingwood Drive on the east side of the water that connects to the East Fork of the San Jacinto River. I thought Councilman Martin said that wasn't going to happen! 4951

My wife and I often share our car and just the drive from SWH to 59 can take forever what with the bad timing of the lights at Green Oak, Chestnut Ridge, Royal Forest and Loop 494. I can't even fathom how long would take from back there. Yes, there is Ford Road but that only gets you to the northbound 59 feeder. I remember when the 59 expansion was being planned they had originally designed Ford Rd to go under the freeway but it was nixed at some point. I figure they will build this subdivision and then come back and tear up 59 to put in an overpass for Ford Rd. That's they way bureaucrats think. 4951

I was just looking at the link to the map of the lots and noticed that the largest lots will be 85' x 140' and comprise only 9% of the total lots. That's smaller than my lot in SWH! The smaller lots will be only 55' x 120' and make up the largest amount at 30% of the lots! What's more you can bet your bottom dollar that they will bulldoze every tree that is standing there and as each house is completed stick 2-3 nursery size trees on each lot that will probably be a mix of live oak, crape myrtle or Southern magnolia.  My lot in SWH has around 19 trees on it with a broad mix including loblolly pine, sassafras, red oak, pin oak, bay, American holly, sweet gum and 2 avocados (volunteers from some seeds in my compost pile). Most of my bigger trees are 50 feet or taller and the trunks at the base are over 24 inches in diameter. Don't let them take the "wood" out of Kingwood! 4951
