both are close 19 years old......it has been 5 days now since we have last seen them. As much as I dislike them........something must have happened. We let them out to stay out all night every night since we moved here...........and every morning they are at the front door waiting to come in as they sleep all day inside.Today is day 5 they have not returned. I confess, yesterday I rode the bike around peering off the greenbelt and in the drainage ditches looking for them. This morning, I guess this makes it official.....I picked up the outside food dish and water dish.They are not coming back.... 4951

That happened to us a few years back. Loyal kitties went out and never came back. It was heartbreaking. One was a special gift given to me. I miss her. I'm so sorry Ray! 4951

Mine did that a couple of times and just when I had given up hope she came back with lots of presents for me.  Mostly beheaded gofers.  I vowed never to let her out again after that first time, but she was so miserable not being able to hunt I gave in.  No problem until a few months later she did it again.  She came back that second time as well after several days.  I hope yours do too Ray.  The not knowing is the hard part.  What do they look like and what village?  4951

@Ray:
Sorry, buddy. The hardest part is not knowing what happened. I hope they return.

This was so sad to me.  Our beloved cat did the same thing...just disappeared. I still think I see him at times... 4951

@Ray: Even though you dislike them - I hope they come back or you at least find out what happened.  That has to be the hard part.  You know they hold a piece of your heart or you wouldn't still be looking.  Can you give us all some more info so we can be on the lookout for them?

I would be devastated if that happened to mine. I live near you I believe. Mine goes out at night but stays on the patio area. But with this dry weather I wonder if predators are coming in closer to houses looking for water.  We aren't far from the woods. I sure hope they return, it seems strange that both would disappear. What do they look like just in case they should come around here? We have two stray white cats that appear now and then that I leave food out for. I think they are mother and son or daughter. The older one is in terrible shape and has some horrible mange or wound to the face. They have been coming around for about a year now and are pretty wild so I don't think they have ever been someone's pets. 4951

I had an indoor cat escape once. He was gone for over a week. I believe it was closer to 2 weeks actually. But he came back one nighe randomly.

They're probably out partying. 4951

@Ray:

I don't think a coyote could get them both at the same time though. They've probably found a neighbor who serves better food! 4951

@taramay: I doubt that. Here they got not only the commercial dried cat food but I frequently threw in chicken livers, gizzards, tuna, hamburger meat, eggs, cheese, etc...they ate well.
