I read one review that said if Windows 7 and 8.1 had a baby it would be Windows 10 4951

I just finished loading Windows 10 and am checking each program to make sure they each still work. 4951

@Retired_Engineer: That's what's holding me back right now. I run a lot of video and photo editing software and want to make sure that upgrading my OS won't mean I'll have to upgrade to new versions of the other programs. I run W-7 on my desktop and it looks like my older Epson scanner won't be compatible. But the Epson store always has some good new ones on clearance.

@Chrisinkingwood:  Quite true.  I had W 8.1 set to automatically go to the Desktop on startup and I rarely left that screen.  After upgrading to W 10, you get the desktop which looks almost exactly like it did before, but you have the Start button again.  I have some cleaning up to do to get rid of some of the old apps I had that I rarely used.  I want to organize the Start Menu a bit so It's more efficient for me.The two programs I was most concerned with were Quicken 2001 and Family Tree Maker 2014.  I only use Quicken to manage my checkbook and savings account so I don't need any fancy upgraded version.  It works fine under W10.  FTM is notorious for having software difficulties.  It started right up and even synched with Ancestry.com.  I'm still playing with the new Internet Explorer called Edge.  I gave up on IE years ago and have Firefox set up the way I want.  Firefox works fine in W10, but I want to see if I can set up Edge like I want it.

@Ray: I just upgraded my tablet, the upgrade was seamless, no problem and quick. The new EDGE that replaced IE is awesome, so fast. In the past, I only performed a Windows upgrade once, several years ago, and it was a disaster, so I never upgraded again, until now, this time, I am so glad I did.
