I just cringed when I saw the title...LOL.

The heat is extremely draining, even when you are mostly indoors. I'm really trying to add more fruits and veggies to almost every meal. Salads for lunch or dinner or fruit and yogurt to breakfast are just cooler meals that, obviously fill me up, but don't leave me feeling overly stuffed and dragging. I'm usually the first to suggest Mexican food and Ritas when we go out, but for the last couple of weeks, that, pizza and burgers aren't very appealing. Grilled meats and veggies have been the favorites lately.

Don't forget magnesium and calcium- they are 2 very important electrolytes that most people don't think about. They just think sodium and potassium. I use NUNN tablets- no sugar and they contain more electrolytes than Gatorade or Powerade 4951

We went outlet mall shopping today and even though we took bottles of ice water in the cooler and bought some Starbucks I guess all the extra walking dehydrated me more than I thought. Just had probably the worst leg/foot cramp ever. Lol. Seriously I don't mind Charley horses but this one started on the top of my foot and went right up my shin halfway to my knee. Dang toes even locked up.

Thank goodness I just picked up some bananas and am chugging another bottle of water while walking it out.

Remember to stay hydrated folks.

@Stealth83:

Drink some pickle juice (if you can tolerate it) for the charley horses or muscle spasms.... The ex swore by it, and the kids too!

My dr. gave me some rx iron supplements that helped alleviate much of my leg and foot pain, but that was due to being anemic.

Pedialyte or any of the generic brands from HEB, Kroger, Randall's or the pharmacy's... CVS or Walgreens. I've used it for 20 years to either prevent dehydration or combat it during tennis tournaments in these brutal Texas summers. Yes it's what we used to give our kids when they had stomach flu back when they were kids. I swear by it. FWIW. 4951

I get severe cramps in my legs to where I cant walk for a bit then I am sore on whatever muscle chooses to cramp from calf to diaphragm to middle back I do take magnesium supplements along with a multi vitamin and try to stay hydrated in between drinking spells but I cannot pin down the cause its not diet I believe so one thing that relieves the threat of a spasm/cramp is my herb. Just tends to relax me if you know what I mean and if I do get one it is not as severe. I have learned to control the pain. 4951
