@buffaloglenn, no pool here. Â I don't think the bat rastards at the COH know this, and they bill me for having a pool with my water bill
No our bill is big straight up because of how cool our house stays.  No way I could sleep if it were 70 at night.  I like coming in my house and the air is cold.  All the time.  lol  Our a/c keeps up without any issues, because I never let it get hot to begin with.  I actually talked to the electric company about this years ago, and in the summer they said it is 100% the a/c.  The lights you leave on, the tv's, etc, just do not pull what an a/c does.  And most people will set their a/c's up to 75+ to save money.  I just can't do that.  If there comes a time I have to, we will have to move to Alaska. Â
@Fallon: Thanks - our bill runs around $200 in the winter, but that is with our pool pump running 12 hours a day, every day, so I estimate $400 with the AC's running quite a bit isn't too bad and somewhat comparable to your cooler house / no pool pump bill. You are right on with the AC driving the usage. You can substitute all the energy saving light bulbs, TV's, etc., but they don't have any impact.Â
