We are in Austin visiting relatives. When we go to bed at home, that AC is cranked down to 70 degrees. Here they keep it at 78, and that is definitely keeping me from getting a decent night's sleep! 😓 4951

@Leauxl:

Oh, da-yum.....I would have to respectfully ask if they could make an adjustment while I was visiting. Maybe even offer them some cash if they're worried about the electricity bill. If not, point me to the nearest hotel. Anything above 72, and it's no bueno for this hombre! 4951

@djchavez0921:
I very nicely asked if we could turn it down a bit but was told it was plenty cool in the house. I guess it's just payback for the fact that they have to wear sweaters when they get up in the morning at my house!

OMG, I would be staying in a hotel.I couldn't sleep if it were 70.  But hells bells 78 would kill me.When we have company, they always ask me what kind mattress we have.  They all say they get the best nights sleep ever here.It has nothing to do with the 20 year old mattress, we do have a tempurpedic topper on it, and it is comfy. They sleep so well because the house if freaking cold.  They snuggle under the nice comforter and are a out like a light.Both my boys were somewhat asthmatic growing up, so we always had to keep it cooler for them.  In the winter we will turn on the heat downstairs, but they can't sleep if the heat is on upstairs.

@Fallon
We don't run the upstairs heat in winter either. The air from the downstairs unit rises and takes care of both floors. 4951

@djchavez0921:  I eliminated that problem (and others) by just staying at a hotel when I go to visit.At home, we normally run the A/C at 76, upstairs is set on 78 (no one lives upstairs).  At night we turn on a window A/C in our bedroom and turn the downstairs A/C to 78.  My wife would like it freezing at night but I just like to be cool.

We did stay at my dad's house when he was alive.  His feet got cold easily, so when we visited, he would put on an extra pair of socks and we could bump the thermostat a couple of degrees cooler, but we had to have the ceiling fans on high.There were no hotels close to where he lived.  At least, none that we would want to stay in. 4951
