@Wooderson....Dude....  So I noticed that the Sunset Grill is back OPEN, dude...  Right on...                                               ......I know it had closed up shop a few back due to the Owner havin' some serious health concerns, and so I was wonderin' what's up...  Is the home-dude/Owner feeling much better and so they re-opened back up, or did they sell and these are new owners who just opted to keep the same name?  I just thought you'd be the dude who knew the skizz-oop...  ~ Happy Friday, my friend...  Best wishes for a beautiful and blessed weekend....

It's now called something like "Just Home Cookin'" or something like that. I've seen a sign out that says something about soul food and listed the menu for that day... Sounded YUMMY!! (I love me some soul food!)  They've not really advertised. Don't know if it's the same guy or the space has been leased by someone else. They do still have the Sunset Grill sign on the space... 4951

I need to go by here.  It wasn't until I graduated college and moved out of NC that I found out that "soul"  food was what we called Sunday dinnerEmoticonHaven't found anywhere that has good collards and greens since I left NC.

@Fallon: I know what you mean .. When I lived in Alabama it was just the stuff we ate and then once I started working downtown a few of the girls I worked with would get soul food from this place close to our building... they thought it was so funny how excited I got over it and ate all of it lol

@Wooderson, I just can't get over not being able to find collards for sale here at any roadside stands. When Kingwood had the vegetable market on 494, I stopped there and asked if they had collards.  The poor girl working there had no clue what I was asking for.And I just can't bring myself to buy the sad pitiful bunches at the grocery store.  It would take all they have at 3 grocery stores to fill up one pot.  And when you cook a mess of collards, you need a lot of collards.I am getting some galvanized steel buckets, like you put horse feed in, today, and planting some from seeds.  I hope to have some by Thanksgiving.  But if they turn out like my tomatoes here, I am going to be sol.  lol

@Fallon:
Take a ride to Canino's on airline. Well worth the trip for the freshest veggies and fruit. Yes they have collards. Nice big fresh bunches. Their leeks and anise bulbs are huge too. I like their jams and jellies, peanuts. I like strolling the back too. I've tried many new things back there. If you can speak Spanish or find someone who can decipher your broken Spanish you can find treasures.
