Road construction on West Lake Houston Parkway will begin next week. Emoticonress Release from Councilman Dave Martin's office: West Lake Houston Parkway Panel Replacement Construction to Begin    Houston, TX - Houston City Council Member Dave Martin is pleased to announce that in an effort to provide more permanent pothole repairs, the City of Houston's Public Works and Engineering Department is in the Kingwood area to begin panel replacements at 2200 West Lake Houston Parkway. Beginning Monday, August 3 construction will begin on the northbound lanes and when completed will alternate to the southbound lanes. Crews are expected to have the work completed by mid-August, weather permitting.   Construction crews will operate between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. on weekdays and possibly on Saturdays to expedite the construction. During this time, please expect lane closures, intermittently, due to these construction activities. Flaggers and caution devices will be put in place on site that will help with traffic flow through the construction zone. Additionally, the lanes impacted by construction will be closed overnight during the concrete curing process, and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent lane. Council Member Martin's office has also worked with the Houston Police Department's Kingwood Substation to help ease traffic congestion.   For more information, please contact Council Member Dave Martin's office at (832) 393-3008 or districte@houstontx.gov.   4951

@myevilgrin: That was my immediate thought too. They couldn't have done this in the summer?

@fudgiesmom2: I consider August 3rd to middle of August to be summer. Didn't think school started that early. They have been patching those potholes for two years and it lasts about a week.  About time they got to fixing them properly.

There have been constant pot holes there since the mid-90's. Hopefully it's for that and a LEFT TURN LANE into YMCA going south on WLHPky. Possibly a right turn lane headed north into YMCA as well. 4951

Those potholes in the concrete bed have been patched twice with asphault which is typical of the COH. Glad they are addressing it as we pay good tax money for this. There were 2 guys out there with tape measures the other day, guess they were estimating the concrete needed. Why is it this hard to fill a couple of holes??? 4951

Hopefully they are making a southbound left turn lane into the original YMCA entrance. Now one at WLHPky @ Sandy Forks on the northbound side soon! Right turn lains @ eastbound NP/WHD (by Walgreen's) and NP/WLHPkwy @ the Shell. 4951
