I've never been a big fan of watermelon. Now honey dew, I could probably live off of that, as well as cantaloupe.
@bp2018: I went through a phase where I didn't like the sloppiness and the seeds from eating watermelon (the "pick up and slice and dive in" method). But I realized that I loved watermelon enough to put up with the mess. Also, we can eat it with a fork and knife and eliminate most of the sloppiness. I do periodically enjoy taking a nice piece of cold watermelon and sitting in the backyard. Sitting with my legs spread so I don't drip juice on my pants, and spitting the seeds out. Even better is to just strip naked and let the juice go where it may. When you're finished, just hose yourself off. But some of my neighbors asked me to stop that.I also love honeydews and cantaloupes! My favorite is to cut them into chunks and mix them. We used to make a huge bowl of mixed fruit: all three melons, pineapple, grapes, etc. Now that the kids are grown and out, it would spoil before we could eat it all.
