@buddyboy:
They found in Rice apartments on the 3rd floor. They said they swept the third floor clear.
What about the other floors if they do not know who it belonged too?
kinda like living next to the Colorado theater shooter who booby trapped his place.
You never know how f'n nuts your neighbors are no matter where ya live.
I personally would be breaking my lease.

Is that how the kid got bit in his car? Did he buy it from the Houston guy? Did the Houston guy buy it from the kid? The kid had a turtle and lizard in the car also.
Smells of illegal pet trade to me. I'd like to see a follow up.
I agree it is shocking when you see a snake in the wild. Even when you can identify it quick.
We were walking Hank when we lived at kings manor ( copperheads were the norm) it was 10 pm and while walking I dart my eyes and I yanked the lease as I yelled snake. He was curled up on the road.
Before I can say let's walk the other way and leave it be, a neighbor coming from the gym grabbed a boulder and crushed it saying he had too.
I flipped out. He was outside in his element and you moved to it. Nobody was in danger, the place rolled up at 10pm when they locked the pool.
I wish schools and people who moved would learn and respect the wildlife around them.

The 18 yr old that died, that had the cobra in his car, worked at a pet store, his mom owned.  So that is how he had the snake with him.  But you still have to wonder at who in their right mind, would transport a snake that deadly in a vehicle, and it not be 100% secure.  The apt owners are sweating a lawsuit right now.  They have the right to do an apt inspection, and they need to do that right now.   The other tenants can break their lease over this.  You never know who your neighbors are, but the apt complex can say no reptiles.  Just like they can say no pets, or no to certain pets.

@Fallon:
Yes his mom owned a pet store. That does not give you an exotics license. You must register all exotics and have permits.
Arkansas killed our 15 yr old cougar, beheaded our deer and came after our wolves, kangaroo and lemur. Last year after everyone went to work and school someone went onto the property and shot our kangaroo in the head and let beast out. They did not make it to the other wolf pen. It was very traumatic to the kids and adults.
The cougar they wanted alive to ship to a Texas game ranch to be let loose and hunted down. We had Dakota and Charlie since newborn.
I hate trophy hunters. They only have a desire to kill something. Hunting for feeding your family is sometimes the necessary evil, but understood.

Re: the ATX cobra guy. I believe the police suspect he committed suicide via cobra...

But as far as the Rice apts, I'd be packing my bags & ditching that lease!

What's up with Cobras?!? Can the pick locks??? 4951
