Are they easy to groom?  The dog we are looking to adopt is a schnauzer and dh and I have only had pups that do not need grooming or cats.  The dog knows us so is it possible for us to just do it ourselves(temperament permitting) 4951

We had a laid back lil guy and did it ourselves.  Invest in the right clippers/shears.  Their fur isn't fluffy so it's not too difficult to deal with.  And you can get creative with the cut!  Ours never looked like a "real" schnauzer bc the kids hated it. 4951

We took ours in every 3-4 months for grooming. Once she got to be around 10 yrs old she started getting rashes where they shaved her back so I just started cutting her fur with scissors myself. It wasn't real pretty but at least she was more comfortable. 4951

Ours has the cropped tail but not ears.  We aren't small dog people but he is my parent and they decided they don't want him anymore.  He is a great little guy and he gets along with our dogs.  4951

Ours had natural ears as well.  He wasn't overly fond of the grooming sessions, but he tolerated it.  I did his whiskers with scissors - in all honesty, his little nub was the hardest part!Schnauzers are the best.  Still miss mine horribly. 4951

@sh56:

I had them growing up so don't mind them. I hand picked this one for my parents because of how low maintenance he was. My husband and daughter adore him.

@RogueHippEE:

He will make a great addition to your family! I miss mine, she was such a happy girl and loved people and other animals. We had this feral cat that kept having baby kittens around the neighbors house so we would take them in until they were old enough to adopt out and Maisey would play with the kitties and let them crawl all over her. When my girls were little and had friends over, there was Maisey, right next to them wanting to play with dolls too. She also had a docked tail and floppy little ears. My grandpa is on his 2nd schnauzer. He told us if he has to give up his dog due to going to a nursing home he might as well die. He's not giving up that schnauzer! 4951
