I took some of the G-kids to Galveston the end of last week. We went to our usual spot, State Park as I have the park pass that gets the vehicle and the passengers in for free, and I like that you can shower off before getting ready for the drive home. No seaweed to report and while the water had the usual sandy hue out to the surf line there weren't any jelly fish.We made a self serve lunch of cut up cheese & salami, crackers, grapes and plenty of fresh water.  I have many memories of beach trips when I was a kid living on Long Island, we went just about every Saturday in the summer time back then. The kids had fun although it was super hot! The youngest (age 6), pictured below likes to ham it up for me when I get out my camera. She and her sister (age 8) in the 3rd shot get super tan even with liberal amounts of sunblock applied, I call them the Coppertone Sisters. They have a pool in their back yard so they swim just about every day.  4951

A road trip for lunch sounds fun. I wish I could turn the temp down 20 degrees while in route! 4951

@myevilgrin: We used to go to Jone's Beach and my dad would make us trek all the way out to the jetties. He liked it because there were less people there. This is a picture from about 1958 taken there. I'm the one standing next to my mom. I always liked this shot that my dad took since my siblings all looked so funny! Mom and dad always brought sandwiches, hard boiled eggs and a big thermos of lemon aid. I think my sister must have choked on her lunch!
