Since I am in the Energy Corridor office today (had to take a drivers test for the company, no, not driving or using any company cars, just a requirement) I went down to Citiline cafe for lunch. Usually I get a snapple diet ice tea, but they had lipton, diet green tea with Citrus. Shoot, green tea is good for you, lets try it.Nothing to rave about taste wise, little bland actually. THEN I read the label.Don't think I will buy this again.Ingredients: Water, Citric Acid, Sodium Hexametaphosphate (to Protect Flavor), Green Tea, Natural Flavor, Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C),Phosphoric Acid, Potassium Sorbate (Preserves Freshness),Aspartame, Acesulfame Potassium, Citrus Pectin, Calcium Disodium Edta (to Protect Flavor). 4951

I used to love Snapple's Diet Peach Tea, but can no longer have caffeine.Back when I could still have caffeine, I tried several types of green tea, but had a similar response.  Not much flavor and one was even a bit nasty. 4951

Green tea is basically pre-ripened tea leaves before they are dried (regular brown/black tea) which causes it to have that bitter/bland flavor. White tea is even less ripe than green tea leaves. It is VERY bitter. 4951

Yeah, that one is pretty horrible, and the bitter taste mostly comes from aspartame. I wonder how much green tea it even has in it? HEB has a pretty decent matcha single mix that uses stevia if you like it and are OK with sweetener that isn't sugar. I forget the brand. Emoticon I'll look next time I go. Bottom line is green tea is so incredibly good for you.  4951

Just brew your own and sweeten with what you prefer.  Keep it in a thermos or those fancy  Yeti dealios.  4951
