I'm not hearing too much about the protesters any longer. There was even a dispute about whether the video was edited. That's right...lose the argument so attack the evidence.

Now that DPS has proven the video was NOT edited, the steam in their argument is greatly reduced.

Her behavior got her arrested.
She was put in jail, rightly so.
She had some "issues" at her own admission.
She hung herself in jail.

She would have just received a ticket had she not acted like a crazy lunatic when stopped. Her death was at her own hand in more ways than one. This has gone on long enough. It's over so move on...go home, go back to school or work and do something productive.

That video told everything. She was so obnoxious , so disrespecting to the officer. Her family tried to portray her as a sweet young lady. I saw none of that. She was arrogant and none cooperative. Yea the tide has turned on that case. 4951

I agree that she was disrespectful...but that isn't against the law.The officer had no reason to ask her to step out of the car, nor put out her cigarette.  He didn't like the answer/attitude she gave so he used his authority to intimidate her which started the chain of events. Now, when things escalated she should have just calmed down and do as told.   4951

Seems a lot of people are missing that she ran a stop sign right in front of the cop, which made the cop pull a u-turn and follow her, upon which time she failed to signal upon lane change - causing the cop to then pull her over.  4951

@aggiebutterfly: No it wasn't against the law but it turned a normal smooth traffic stop into an instant combative situation. Given her crazed behavior, the cigarette could have been used as a weapon to burn the officer, so having her put it out was justified. He used his authority to difuse a potentially dangerous situation. She could have shut her mouth, complied and been on her way with a ticket.

The entire chain of events were the result of HER actions, beginning with the traffic violations.

Just stop, comply and take the ticket.

***** yell cuss and scream on your way home. There was absolutely no reason to get upset or provoke an incident the way she did.

Even after watching the video my office partner is still absolutely convinced that this women did nothing wrong and the whole thing is murder. Anything that doesn't match up was due to a cover up by the police. I tried to tell her if the lady would have kept her mouth shut and done what was asked she wouldn't have been taken to jail. No amount of evidence will change her mind. I've been hearing about this non stop all morning. 4951

She went off on that cop. She should have taken her ticket with her mouth shut just like everyone else does. No one murdered her. She killed herself but her friends and family refuse to believe it as some families would feel the same. She said herself on YouTube she suffered depression. 4951

@donnatella:   I still don't understand why the officer asked her to step out of the car.  Did she have a warrant?  Did he smell marijuana in the car? Etc.    I would have stepped out as requested, but there is no reason to have someone step out of the car just to write them a ticket.  That was the only question I have about the officer.  The woman acted very badly throughout this event. On our drive up to Colorado, my friend didn't notice that we were entering a small town and was speeding.  A police officer pulled him over.  The Hispanic officer was polite and explained why he pulled us over.  We were polite as well.  We both kept our hands in plain view.  My friend gave him his license, CHL, and proof of insurance.  My friend was worried about getting a ticket as he had a CDL and periodically drove a truck for a friend.  I asked him how long has it been since he got a ticket and he said probably 10 years.  I told him not to worry about it.  After several minutes, the officer came to our truck and told my friend he was giving him a verbal warning and to slow down in these small towns.  We talked to the officer for a few more minutes, just shooting the breeze, then he saw another speeder and had to leave. It seems like some Blacks want to instigate a war with the police.  As long as the police are not JBTs, I stand with the police.

@donnatella: I don't think her crazed behavior was until after the officer asked her to step out of the car.  Before that, she just had an attitude and was disrespectful (nothing that is unlawful).  To be honest, internally I would have an attitude as well if an officer asked me to put out my cigarette in my car and then asked me to step out when I wouldn't do so.  Now, I would not have said anything to instigate the circumstance and would have complied.  She uped the situation when she wouldn't get out and it escalated quickly from there...in which case the office acted as he should have.

@Maisey1: Some people just have an agenda and will stop at nothing to promote it and/or attach it to any situation possible. You just gotta smile, nod and let them bury themselves in their own behavior. Works like a charm, almost every time. 4951

Her sister was interviewed, saying that she has PTSD and major bouts of depression. While I do think the cop was trying to pick a fight (asking her to put out her cigarette), I do agree with the fact that if you get pulled over, just comply! 4951

@ctl74: I think a cop asking you to put out your cigarette is a reasonable request. Who wants smoke blown in their face...  He even said to her you seem aggravated and she answered she was.  Well is it because of getting pulled over or just life.  Take your ticket and get on with your life, it's really not that big a deal.

She hung herself after she went to jail. Her getting arrested did not cause that, she obviously had some major mental issues that it just isn't reasonable to expect the officer to know. 4951
