I'm curious (nosey)...why are people paying over $400 for a cooler? 4951

@lisapisabobisa: Because when I open mine, the outside temp drops about 10 degrees.  It even started snowing one time.  4951

Ok, that was funny @TexasTideFan. I would agree that they are pricey, but I see the value in them for people who hunt and fish or travel back from other areas (say Louisiana) with specialty meats, etc. 4951

I just want to keep my drinks cold. Any cooler will do that. 4951

I had a gift card so I used it for the 30 oz Yeti Mug. They are so expensive. I am amazed at how longer it keeps the ice even when sitting in the truck for hours.  The only think I find a bit "cumbersome" is the weight of it.  Still like my Tervis cups.  Would not have gotten a Yeti if I did not have a gift card.   No way I can justify $300 - $500 for a cooler.  Can buy a lot of ice for that price.... 4951

Some folks want the best and they are the best....   It is also a status thing.....   I compare it to buying a expensive name brand purse when a 20.00 purse will hold all your shi*....They are a great product with a great reputation....  I will say this though.....  we camp and you can leave your cooler outside...... but if you have a Yeti, it sleeps inside with you....  lol 4951

Because when used properly they can keep ice for a week. Comes in handy at the deer lease. Or when moving. We have a big yeti that I don't know what we'd do without. We have several of the cups too. Also...priceless. I can keep my coffee hot for hours, and my tea full of ice overnight in the car. Crazy!

I'm currently waiting on backorder for my yeti zipper bag. Wonderful product for road trips, beach trips, fishing...

I will say...we've gotten all our yeti products at cost because DH sells them at his office. So that makes a difference.

@GoldenGirl: BUT, you can never compare a cooler to a LV. To do so would just be blasphemy. 4951

LOL! So true! We're protective of ours. They get stolen a lot.

Funny story...we got my mom one of the yeti zipper bags for mother's day. She travels back and forth from Houston to San Antonio a lot for us, so it was fitting for her. It came with a couple Yeti stickers. My grandpa saw them and said he wanted one. He put it on his Igloo cooler. Emoticon 4951

If you are going to use it as a beer cooler...get something else.  if you are going to use it correctly-like for camping (where you aren't in and out of the cooler all day), then it is worth it.i think it's funny when i see people using them at tailgates.  seriously?  that defeats the purpose of a yeti cooler! 4951

[quote-tag-mismatch][quote-tag-mismatch]They get stolen a lot.[quote-end-tag-mismatch] @taramay: I lock mine down and leave it in my truck.  2 years ago, my lock was cut-off and stolen but usually locking it down deters only the most die-hard Yeti thief.    4951

I have a really good Igloo cooler on wheels that I love!  But; Aside from sticker shock and the need to attach a security system or guard dog onto a YETI cooler.....I kind of understand the need of super excellent cold retention on lets say, My  long 14 hour commute between Texas and Florida or extended road trips, for example.  However..... Keeping my iced tea cold in a Yeti cup all night?????   Hello!! Tea is made to be drank not left sitting all night. From my personal experience.... my coffee or iced tea or protein shake only needs regular holding temperature times.  :-)  4951

@GoldenGirl: yep..when I went to the pool this weekend, there was a couple who apparently had to have the best, she wanted a bigger diamond, a 2 karat one even thou her husband's still paying her ring off, she wore $200 sunglasses and apparently $20 sunglasses are cheap.... I easily scratch mine so i only pay like $5-$10.... and of course they had a small Yeti cooler with them
