I was telling my oldest about living in a tiny home. Said it might not be a bad option.At least I could get rid of the "stuff" we currently have.She sent me this blog link (has some bad words, so don't follow it if bad words upset you).But it does ask some valid questions, using humor.Questions about little houses 4951

@beadweaver, you were talking about the little houses on another thread.Did you know they have several neighborhoods, that just have these type of homes?I love the show about little house living.  Not sure there is any way I could ever do that.  Living in 300 to 400 sq ft, just seems not possible to me.On the plus side, no way would you ever have junk building up in your closets.  And the place would always be clean.  And the electric bills would be tiny too.

@Fallon:  When we first got married, we were living in an apartment right off of the military base.  It was an "efficiency" apartment that was basically a shoebox with a murphy bed and a tiny bathroom.  Most 2-car garages have more room, so I assume it was about 400-500 square feet total.  It was just the two of us and we were newlyweds with not much stuff, but let me tell you, there wasn't room to turnaround and it drove me crazy at times.  When you pulled down the bed at night, it was only about 4-5 inches from hitting the couch.  Fun times!

No way I could do it if I were living with someone. Sometimes you need more distance than 1 wall will allow. 4951

@Fallon:

She has no hoa and wanted me to use the 2 1/2 garage as studio space, use her kitchen ( she drools over my cooking and baking), and her bath and laundry. Hard wire the electric to the house.
I told her it sounds wonderful. However reality is ck with tax office etc. Where are her utility lines, plumbing for the pool, etc. Ya gotta look ahead.

I love some of the tiny houses. I'm cutting my living space to 32×12 as a trial run. I'll be selling it all off. Never in my life have I had to go out and buy a 2400 square footage home to store stuff I didn't use. I looked around after cleaning one day and said wtf.
Since then I've been on overdrive to go fishing.
My high maintenance turned to high upkeep of stuff.

Looks like I was wrong.  I looked it up online and it was actually 288 sq. ft.  This pic shows just one chair in the "living room" and a sofa table where the actually sofa should be.  It gives the illusion of room to move when the bed is down.  Clever marketing, but it's a total lie.

I can't even watch the show on HGTV, it makes me call the people on the show bad names! I think, yes we get along (hubs & me) but I need more space than that, 1400-1600 sq ft. & I'm happy. I don't need to store a lot of stuff but I would like to  have enough storage for the essentials. 4951

 I love the functionality of it, just never want to buy any of  it.

@Fallon: Think more like Modular design. Sure you might end up with 1,100 SF, but you could have a seperate living area, separate kitchen/bath for the living area, a master with bath and a couple bedrooms.Using energy efficient domes you could make them in a circle, connected by hallways, and have an interior atrium you could do anything with.Just as one example. But you could not live in a subdivision most likely. 4951

How about storing blankets, sheets, towels,  pots & pans, TP & papertowels, personal clothes and shoes, large bags of dog food and all her treats, plus cat food and accessories. I know there is probably more that was just off the top of my head 4951

@FoFa:

Omg I've seen that before.

Let me address some.
1. I don't care how big or small the space is, if ya gotta fart, go to the bathroom or outside
2. I cook most yr round outside because I love to.
3. Clean the place and don't use those hide the smell puffers.
4. My dh and I are best friends and actually like being together. There are lots of places we either want to share with each other, or explore together.
5. Nobody said there would or could be alone time. Spending a day alone is healthy.
I truly believe if families aye together things wouldn't be get away from me.

I can't not wait for the day I sign my rv paperwork.
Even if he has to work mobile or part time. Retirement is now in view.

I could do this if it was just me, in a nice climate with a private big porch.  With hubby, no way, too much personality going on there for such a small space.  4951
