Let me check and see if my mother can keep my dog for the weekend.  If so, I might be able to foster Cookie.  I actually saw Cookie online before and was curious about her.  I want a dog for my dog, but she got freaked out at Petsmart around the dogs there.  I'm thinking if she meets a dog where she's comfortable it may be good.   4951

Your dog was probably overwhelmed at Petsmart.A good place/way to introduce dogs is to take them on a walk together.  Have someone else walk the other dog.  After they've been around a little while, you can move into the back yard. It's natural for your dog to want to show the new dog that is her territory.  I have found that dogs off leash are less likely to feel threatened.  But you might just let go of the leashes and not take them off right away.  If you need to, it's easier to get hold of the dog using the leash.Don't try to do this alone. Have someone else there that can help pull the dogs apart if needed. Trick is not to let aggression escalate. You'll know how to read your dog and they really do feed off your energy so relax and let your dog know you are in charge (sometimes that's easier said than done). 4951

@radiogirl30:  One time when I was enamoured with pygmy goats, I told my husband, "I want to buy a goat as a pet for the dogs. They'd love it!"Needless to say, my suggestion was quickly shot down.

@HollyHobby: LOL!  That sounds like a great idea!  Why on earth would he shoot it down?

@radiogirl30: Oh, maybe because we lived in the suburbs and weren't allowed to own goats!

@hollyhobby: I also tried convincing my husband to get a baby goat. He said the only way we would get one is if he could bbq it. Needless to say, there will be no goats for us - ever! 4951
