>> I'm looking for other small business owners in the area to meet up with. My husband has his company and we are looking for other individuals to connect and network with, get insight, share what did and did not work for you, etc. We are navigating this in the dark as I'm sure many other people are.
I am looking to get enough individuals interested so that we can host a meeting at an agreed at location.
@Angie1002:
What type of business? As a solo artist I find it hard to connect with the right people here.
Finding a reasonable warehouse/ office is like hunting a needle in a haystack.
Seems if your not a corporate name but a local mom and pop the community doesn't support it.
I'd love to sit down and chat.
A great source when I was starting out was SCORE. The chamber will have that info and who to contact here. It's a group of retired business people that help you navigate the laws and help you with understanding small business expenses.
Look up SCORE in Harris county, or Montgomery. Check the colleges too. Great meet up resources.
Best of luck to you both.
@beadweaver:
Thank you. I have never heard of SCORE and will look into it.
We are a small home remodeling and repair company.
@Angie1002:
Sometimes the Kingwood Library has workshops with them too. Maybe on a monthly basis.
I wish you the greatest success. Make sure to be licensed, bonded and insured and get any certification you can. Many companies will have classes on how to apply and use their products and materials and will supply an added warranty on products, while you warranty the work.
My best friends have been in the business for four generations. I lived and was the nanny for 13 yrs on their farm, I learned a lot from the foundation to the roof, inside and out. I'm the fix it in and out of our home. After Ike I had them come and re roof our home. I only trusted them after talking to some local companies.
At the dinner table just last night, my dh made mention how comfortable I am with either a spatula, hammer, or power tools. Never missing a beat.
Well everything except electric. I'll lay a line but I'm not hooking up those wires. I've seen a trained grown man thrown across a house. No thanks. Lol
