Literally. Our house is new construction. One day it sounded like someone was banging on the bathroom window. I get up and look and its a pretty cardinal running into it. I ask my mother in law what to do and she tells me about the omen behind it so I get nervous. I find out it is probably seeing its reflection so I put something up to cover the window. Thursday 2 of them started attacking the row of 4 windows in the living room. Saturday while 2 were attacking the back windows 4 more started attacking the front window in the dining room. This morning I woke up to 2 attacking the living room windows, 4 attacking the dining room and 2 MORE attacking the bedroom windows and our original friend back at the bathroom window. What can I do to get them to stop?!? I can't just cover up all my windows. They are the double pane windows with gas in the middle so I know there might be a reflection. It started out only in the morning, now it's all day and getting worse. As I write this my husband is looking up how to poison them but I don't want them dead, just away from my windows. 4951

My friend had this problem and she put up pictures of owls on her windows. She printed the pics from her computer and taped them to the outside of window and in few days they were gone. I don't know if that will work Everytime. Good luck. 4951

Geez- it's not an omen. The cardinal is protecting his turf from an intruder ( his reflection). You basically need to break the reflection- any stickers ( like the owl suggestion) so that the cardinal can't see his reflection. I have a cardinal who does this at a particular time of year when the sun is in a certain position and shines on my car window- he flies at the window over and over 4951

I had this happen last year in the rental house- dang cardinals kept attacking the small window above the front door. It took about 2 weeks, but it eventually stopped. I had been told they were probably trying to mate. I dunno. Your situation is so much more drastic, though!! I would feel under attack! 4951

Girlfriend, don't let the screen door hit you.....Get the hell outta there.  Maybe the house was built on a burial ground or something.  If you are Catholic call a Priest.OK, I am sorta joking but that would freak me out bad.  Hope you get things worked out but I hate to see you have to deface your windows to run the birds off. Let us know when you find a solution. 4951

The omen is that if a bird is pecking at your window you or someone close to you is going to die.

It started with 1 bird about 4 weeks ago and now I literally feel like im under attack. There's about 8 of them attacking all my windows. My land was cleared in January so it was not nesting season yet but none of my neighbors are having a problem. The bathroom is the worst and I have pictures and decor all over the window seal. I know my grandma is not doing very well (she's 89), so maybe that's what they are trying to tell me. 4951

I'm pretty sure its not the light because at the same time they were attacking the east, west and south side of my house. North side doesn't have any windows so....and its all day long even into dusk. 4951

@Nicole4647: trust me the cardinals are protecting their territory- do something to stop the birds from seeing their reflections and the birds will stop
It's just nature at work
NOT an Omen
NOT a haunting
NOT supernatural

Set up some bird feeders. My mom has a lot of cardinals that visit her back yard. She lives in a wooded area and birds are all over. None attacking windows. She does have a little bird area with about 5-6 feeders with different foods for the different birds and a bird bath. Since your house is new I assume you live in an area that recently had trees taken down, therefore you moved into their space.

Also, if you read about the presence of cardinals I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. It's not an omen, that is an old wives tale. 4951
