...This is my very own quote from the "Same Sex Marriage" Thread.... "....in an intellectually honest conversation, does this not take on a slippery slope in which "ALL" marriages should be recognized, and legal, such as Emoticonolygamy, or Incestuous Marriages, since everyone's shouting that it's "All about love".....  July 1, 2015Nathan Collier, who lives in Billings, Mont., applied for a marriage license Tuesday for his polygamous relationship with his two wives.The U.S. Supreme Court decision last Friday on same-sex marriage prompted him to seek the license, he said.The Supreme Court's decision made marriage legal nationwide between same-sex couples. But in his dissent, Chief Justice John Roberts said that the legal argument used to justify same-sex marriage could be used by polygamist couples. Collier said that argument inspired him to apply.County clerk officials took Collier's application and are consulting with the county's attorney's office, according to Collier.Kevin Gillen, the Yellowstone County chief civil litigator, is reviewing Montana's bigamy laws and plans to respond next week, according to the AP.If they deny the license application, Collier plans to get an attorney and file a civil rights lawsuit, he said."Right now we're just sitting here with a lot of anxiety," he said. "We don't know if we're going to have a wedding, a civil lawsuit or a criminal defense."LINK:http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation-now/2015/07/02/montana-polygamous-marriage-license-supreme-court/29612673/....My friends, where do we consciously, morally, "And In God We Trust" draw the line?  ...Or hell, is there even a line to draw? 4951

none of the histrionics are true. the definition of marriage is still a legal union between two consenting adults. there have always been legal bars to plural marriages and to relatives unless the relationship is of a certain distance. all the ******** about polygamy, pedophilia  and farm animals is simply that: ********...and remember extending the constitutional provisions to cover gay people does not compel your church to perform marriages for gay people nor require you to marry a gay person. 4951

I'm all for love, for the same Financial / Tax Benefits, and the same mutual respect to be given to those other than Heterosexual Couples, and I am wholeheartedly behind any type of "Union" that it wants to be called, but for me personally, "Marriage" is defined as a Sacrament, or a Holy Union, between a Man, a Woman, and God....  Marriage has been defined between a Man and a Woman for Millennia and beyond...  I mean, before the days of Jesus, before the days of America, and way before the days of The Supreme Court....  And do I believe that The Supreme Court over stepped their boundary with their recent ruling....  Damn Skippy, I do....  My friends, this is a very slippery slope when our very own federal government disregards The Constitution, and starts to insert itself into areas that are supposed to be left to the states.  Of course, this has been happening since the beginning of the "Progressive" Movement, since they care nothing for the Rule Of Law, unless it helps them to gain more power it seems...  Let's see here... First, let's take prayer out of schools, demand the removal of The Ten Commandments and any type of Christian memorabilia from State and Federal Buildings, and now lets re-write the sanctity of Marriage...  ***k what the Bible says, ***k what the Torah says, hell, even ***k what the Koran says about Marriage...  And ***k that this country was founded on Judea-Christian Values...  Am I the only one that sees this "Divide And Conquer" technique being played here?  Many of those things were in place when the Founding Fathers wrote the Constitution.....  Funny how these Supreme Court Judges now think they know better about what is Constitutional, than the people who originally wrote it.....  Talk about arrogance.....And does anyone else find it ironic that the peeps chanting for "Tolerance," are the ones NOT at all willing to compromise, or respect any other ideologies, or beliefs other than their own?....  And ever notice how quick these so-called tolerant victims are to call names and throw out labels if you disagree with their cause...  4951

It is now to late, we have already crossed the line.My personal opinion is:  The Supreme court is not authorized to "REDEFINE" what God has defined.  Once they did that it was all over.  I am not opposed to a "Civil Union" type for Gay/Lesbian's (even though I do not agree with it either) but Marriage was defined in the Bible over 2000 years ago.   I am sorry but the SCOTUS is not above God and therefore I do not and will not recognize their decision.  4951

@ProblemAgain:

Yet. That WILL be a future fight before the SCOTUS. Outcome will depend on the makeup of the court at the time.

I wouldn't do it but as far as polygamy...to each their own. 4951

@ProblemAgain: thank God you cleared *that* up for me. I thought I was required to gay marry someone. Chaz is probably going to be super disappointed when I tell him it's off. It's all for the best because I'm horrible at interior design and I hate Lady Gaga.

The intent of this thread is purposely to call attention to the labeling of certain groups going on right now, resulting in the DIVISION of us as Americans.....  And the fact that our very own Government is overstepping their Judicial boundaries, disregarding The Constitution, and obviously pushing their own agenda, instead of actually adhering to the set Rule Of Law is nothing less than unlawful arrogance at best....My friends, a many man have lay down their life for the Liberties and Freedoms that we so blessed enjoy daily, and we must be vigilant in observing, protecting, and defending these rights....We must be vocal in proclaiming that the obvious goal of this Administration, and of certain Political Affiliations, is to DIVIDE AND CONQUER instead of Unite.....We need to stand united, not as Black Americans, Gay Americans, Asian Americans, Lesbian Americans, White Americans, Indian Americans, etc etc, but as AMERICANS...  Period.... ~ For The People, By The People ~

The history of Spain dates back to the Early Middle Ages. In 1516, Habsburg Spain unified a number of disparate predecessor kingdoms; its modern form of a constitutional monarchy was introduced in 1813, and the current democratic constitution dates to 1978.

After the completion of the Reconquista, the kingdoms of Spain were united under Habsburg rule in 1516. At the same time, the Spanish Empire began to expand to the New World across the ocean, marking the beginning of the Spanish Golden Age of Spain, during which, from the early 1500s to the 1650s, Habsburg Spain was among the most powerful states in Europe.

In this time, Spain was involved in all major European wars, including the Italian Wars, the Eighty Years' War, the Thirty Years' War, and the Franco-Spanish War. In the later 17th century, however, Spanish power began to decline, and after the death of the last Habsburg ruler, the War of the Spanish Succession ended with the relegation of Spain, now under Bourbon rule, to the status of a second-rate power with a reduced influence in European affairs. The so-called Bourbon Reforms attempted the renewal of state institutions, with some success, but as the century ended, instability set in with the French Revolution and the Peninsular War, so that Spain never regained its former strength.

Fragmented by the war, Spain at the beginning of the 19th century was destabilised as different political parties representing "liberal", "reactionary", and "moderate" groups throughout the remainder of the century fought for and won short-lived control without any being sufficiently strong to bring about lasting stability. The former Spanish Empire overseas quickly disintegrated with the Latin American wars of independence and eventually the loss of what old colonies remained in the SpanishAmerican War of 1898.

A tenuous balance between liberal and conservative forces was struck in the establishment of constitutional monarchy during 18741931 but brought no lasting solution, and Spain descended into Civil War between the Republican and the Nationalist factions.

The war ended in a nationalist dictatorship, led by Francisco Franco, which controlled the Spanish government until 1975. The post-war decades were relatively stable (with the notable exception of an armed independence movement in the Basque Country), and the country experienced rapid economic growth in the 1960s and early 1970s.

Only with the death of Franco in 1975 did Spain return to Bourbon constitutional monarchy headed by Prince Juan Carlos and to democracy. Spain entered the European Economic Community in 1986 (transformed into the European Union with the Maastricht Treaty of 1992), and the Eurozone in 1999. The financial crisis of 200708 ended a decade of economic boom and Spain entered a recession and debt crisis and remains plagued by very high unemployment and a weak economy. 4951
