I was thinking about taking my recently adopted dog (thanks again @lola ) to the fireworks with me tonight at town center. I have been reading the other dog and fireworks posts and am now worried. Should I take her with or leave her at home??? I already had my wine and her water carafe set upEmoticon 4951

If you take her, make sure she is secure on a leash she can't escape from and be sure to leave if she is scared or stressed. 4951

If you don't know how she is going to react I wouldn't leave her home alone. 4951

I take a few of mine that are not terrified. I try to socialize and expose them as much as possible. One tip is to use a harness. Better control if they become scared. 4951

@Sparkles:
I wouldn't do it. Their little ears are sensitive and I don't think it's something she would enjoy. I have to create mine with three blankets on top and dose one with a sedative. I love that you want to include her in your familyEmoticon That is so awesome! I think a different type of outing may be better suited for family+dog bonding Emoticon

Does she get scared when it thunders? If not, she might be ok. It's a lot of stimulation for a dog. I would put a harness on her. Scared dogs slip out of their collars. Did you take her to the parade? I think she would have enjoyed that. She is social and didn't show any fear when I brought her home. Very confident dog. A bit needy but confident. 4951

She is a very confident dog. She doesn't like thunder but is easily calmed. I think I may bring her. I like to walk around and see the vendors and sit and listen to the band. My son also loves the fireworks. I have ear protectors and will put them on her. I will defiantly leave if she can't handle it though. 4951

she might be safer and better off crated at home with some chewtoys and music playing if you aren't  sure how she will react to fireworks. 4951

Personally I would leave my dogs at home.  However, if you take her please make sure that she has an ID tag on her so that if she does get loose someone can call you if found. 4951

@ProblemAgain:

She handles loud noises well and always likes to be as close to me as possible. I live pretty close to where they shoot them off so I am thinking she might rather be with me. 4951
