Peas- no!!! I also heard that people nixed the idea of tomatoes. Sometimes I like chopped tomatoes in my guacamole. Otherwise it's avocados, onions, garlic, limes and Serrano peppers. People up river don't know TexMex 4951

Never heard of peas, but I have seen small diced carrot before.I prefer no scuzmaters in mine. However, at an upscale place one time they had rough chopped (larger pieces) of roasted garlic in theirs, that was pretty good. 4951

Fred and A.J on the Blitz were talking about this on the radio on my way home last night, the read off some of the twitter responses to the original post by the NY Times, some of them were hilarious. 4951

I first heard about it when Jeb Bush was a guest of Jimmy Fallon's show. Fallon mentioned adding peas. 4951

Anything other than avocado, pico or salsa, onion, tomatoes, lemon or lime juice, or seasoning just isn't the same.

I actually prefer just avocado and lemon or lime juice. The rest is filler to make it go farther. 4951

@beadweaver: Like restaurants adding mayo and lettuce to make it go farther. I'm a guacamole purest. 4951

"I actually prefer just avocado and lemon or lime juice."....Exactly @donnatella , dude....Too legit to quit Guac should be most simple and most pure in nature... An Avocado, a sprinkling of Sea Salt, freshly ground Black Pepper, and a lovely squeeze of either fresh Lemon, or Lime, and voila, Perfect Guac..It's all about the Avocado after all....

No peas please ! But I do like my guac fully loaded. Finely chopped onion and tomatoes with some cilantro and fresh lime does not stick around too long once the munchies set in .. 4951
