if the external is large enough you could clone it to a partition. you'll need to clone the whole drive including the d partition which is where the recovery files are located to repair and restore . or you could pick up a 2tb external for around 70 bucks and do a single image. then if you decide you like the 10, you still have a spare storage to do a secondary back up of all your other stuff. remember drives are really cheap these days and cause they are cheap they have a lot more tendency to croak without warning.
@ProblemAgain: I have a 1TB and a 2TB external hard drive but I use those to backup my wife's and my PCs. It's worth it to buy another external hard drive just for the clone. Also, since we won't have the disks as backup for the new operating system, everyone needs to remember to make a systems backup file once W10 is loaded and running. Or just keep a copy of the files it downloads to install W10.
