Hello all!anyone know the legalities of launching fireworks in Kings Mill for the 4th? I understand its a fine line between montgomenry and harris counties, I dont know where each falls and what the legalities are. I know last year people launched them but I dont want to spend a bunch of money on fireworks and not be able to enjoy themThanks all! 4951

I don't think Fireworks are illegal in Harris County, the are illegal in the City of Houston.  Doesn't really stop people though. 4951

Fireworks are illegal to possess and to use in Harris County, but not in Montgomery County.  You'll need to look at a map to see where your house is.  Just buying fireworks on Northpark (Montgomery County) and driving into the Harris County parts of Kingwood can get you a ticket.  It's not unusual for a police car to be watching just such occurrences and writing tickets.Even though it is illegal in Harris County, some people still fire them.  Unless you have a large quantity and shoot them for a long time, you likely won't get a ticket. 4951

@tatertot58:   good point.  I tend to think of COH and Harris county as the same thing in our area since the boundaries are the same for us.

Thanks for confirming my beliefs. Yeah I heard about that trap. Its actually illegal for them to do that since on these roads you are actually legally allowed to possess even in harris county, but they have to be in your trunk. also, most of the time when you get into your neighborhood it magically makes it illegal :facepalm:as far as the amount, i was looking into getting a good amount since my GF is coming in from out of the country and has never really been able to partake in fireworks upclose and personal. Thanks for the information guys! on the search i go! 4951

so, according to this map:https://www.maptechnica.com/us-county-boundary-map/county/Montgomery%20County/state/TX/countyid/48339residents of kings mill are free to pop fireworks. btw that is a really odd way of splitting up the county line (straight through kingwood) 4951

As a kings mill resident,yes you are allowed! We have a few old farts in our community who absolutely hate them but they can kiss my butt..we usually set them off on the street I live on. 4951

We don't shoot any off, but I don't mind them and can enjoy other people's shows.  I just keep the pups inside.  I just don't want to blow off any fingers.  4951

I would probably go to the back (toward 59) where there are building the new houses as to not disturb residents and traffic too much. I try to be very respectful of neighbors and the community in general but I mean come on, its one day a year (maybe 2 if you include new years) where fireworks are a "tradition" and of course safety would be number 1 priority 4951

Most of my neighbors are pretty good about the whole fireworks thing. Heck they even clean them up usually the next morning while nursing our hangovers lmao 4951

Fireworks in Harris County

Department - Life Safety Division at 713-865-7100 or

Fireworks sales season began June 24th and the Harris County Fire Marshal’s Office is asking
everyone to be careful and reconsider their use of fireworks this season. Even though the Greater
Houston/Harris County area has received recent substantial rainfall, there is always the potential
for fireworks-related fires. Any carelessly used firework can start a fire or cause injury.

“There are no fireworks restrictions for the unicorporated area of the county,” said Harris County
Fire Marshal Mike Montgomery.

“I still want to caution citizens that fireworks are not legal in most cities. They are also banned in
certain unincorporated areas of the county,” he added. There may be additional local restrictions
enforced by cities in and around Harris County.

Montgomery stressed the 4th of July seaon will be safer if people:

  Read and follow fireworks directions and warning labels;

  Never allow children to play with or ignite fireworks;

  Only light one firework at a time - well away from buildings, homes or vehicles;

  Are considerate of neighbors when it comes to noise and trash left behind.

Citizens are urged to call 281-999-2200 to register any complaints about the sale or illegal use of
fireworks in the unincorporated areas.

For additional information, please contact the Harris County Fire Marshal’s Office at 281-436-
8030, or visit our website at www.hcfmo.net.

For questions regarding the City of Houston fireworks regulations, contact the Houston Fire

But once you cross over the line for the City limits of Houston or an incorporated area they are no longer legs. 4951
