California lawmakers voted on Thursday to substantially limit vaccine exemptions for school children in the most populous U.S. state, an initiative prompted by last year's measles outbreak at Disneyland that sickened more than 100 people.LINK 4951

Ahh, constitutional rights and individual freedoms vs. "herd immunity." I think my position on this is already clear. 4951

If you don't want to vaccinate your child, don't send them to public school. Rules should be for all not some. 4951

@SenseOfHumor:

Or have them in public around other kids, especially the little ones that haven't been vaccinated yet. 4951

@SenseOfHumor: I agree completely - it's each parent's right to choose to vaccinate or not.  It also doesn't bother me if parents electing "no" to vaccination send their kids to public schools, as my kids are vaccinated and won't pick up whatever is floating around.  As long as public assistance is not being used to pay for your kids' medical care when they pick up, say, the measles, I'm cool with it.  How many low-income folks will show up at hospitals with sick kids, and use public money to treat what could have been prevented with free vaccinations?  I don't know what that answer is, and probably don't really want to know.

Public money pays for vaccinations. Medicaid pushes parents to get them, like herding mindless sheep. Most people who refuse vaccinations are anti-establishment. 4951

@Mahm: That is certainly true, that public money does cover a lot of the vaccinations, which are far, far cheaper than hospital stays.  Again, as I stated, go for it - do what you want with your own kids health; it's your right as a parent.  Just don't come later (and I don't mean you personally, as I know you are a responsible parent) and dial 911 when they have the measles, or flu, etc.

Prove to me its not about the money and big pharm and make vaccines non profit. I didn't say free on tax payers back but non profit....there is a difference.

And yes both my girls are fully vaccinated but I didn't do it in a few years. I spread that poison out as far as I could. LOL

No reason to shoot a baby up with 4 to 6 poisons at once. 4951

@Burnsway: Easy! Look at the numbers! Number of kids infected before vaccines vs. after. Number of kids infected before and after the playboy mates of this world started to claim that vaccines made their kids autistic when the "Dr." who published the study had admitted that he made **** up and has been stripped of his licence. Vaccines work. The numbers prove it.

it's not just about autism...that's what everyone says because the media pushes it.  i have autoimmune diseases that run in my family.  i do vaccinate, but choose to spread out the vaccines and don't do some of them (guardasil). 4951
