I went to the doctor today for a routine checkup.  As we were leaving, I felt I'd better stop at the restroom before we hit the road.  There were two stalls, a regular one and a handicap one.  Neither was being used, so I entered the regular one.  That dang stall must have been only about two feet wide!  When I sat down, both of my knees were touching the walls!  I was starting to feel claustrophobic and small spaces don't usually bother me.   I finished my business and felt like I could breathe again once I got out of that stall!The next time I need to use a bathroom there, I will use the handicap stall or just hold it until I get home!Anyone else run into this? 4951

@Retired_Engineer: Yes! I've actually stood in a few before, where both my shoulders were touching the walls.

I don't like it when you have to lean backwards way over the toilet so the stall door can swing open towards you. There's no room for the door swing. 4951

And usually the tp holder is either five miles from you, or so close that it's basically part of the seat.   4951

@Retired_Engineer: It's a good thing you don't have a "wide stance".  Emoticon

@RogueHippEE:

lol I really try not to use the elementary school toilets as everything is their size. I'm 5'2" and I feel like a giant in those.
I believe they do have regular size for teachers.

I hear the guys about the door swing.

My ***** lay at the very door. I'd rather pull it open going in rather then going out. I use a paper towel and my foot to open a door to exit.
I'd rather push it to exit.

In the restrooms at work they decided they needed to replace the toilet paper holders. They are the huge holders that are stainless steel and they roll is at least a foot wide. They used no discretion on where they put them. So some on the left side on the bottom of a stall wall. So if you're not paying attention most of the paper hits the floor.  That just grosses me out. Some are on the right but not high enough. I was wondering if anyone gave instructions or they let the guy just put them where it was easiest for him because it definitely doesn't work for me. 4951

@BooBear: I'm at work... Sometimes you have to tinkle.......... When I'm out I avoid public restrooms like the plague. Saturday we went to breakfast at IHOP. Left & went to DSW shoes. They had the dirtiest bathrooms I've been in lately . I went to the Ladies to deal with a clothing malfunction and not to use the facilities which I was very glad of.

@QueenB:  I actually prefer a wide stance but it wasn't possible in that stall!  It also had those institutional toilet rolls where the paper is as thin as air.  You end up pulling about three feet of it just get enough to wipe!  And if you need to lean to wipe, you're can't because of the walls.  Emoticon

I do not use a public rest room until it is an absolute emergency.
My dh will tell you I'm good for 12 hours if need be. No matter what I eat and drink.
Somethings are not an option. Clean is a must.
It's almost a rare find these days. 4951

I haven't seen a public restroom here that comes even close to the disasters in Arkansas. I actually think it's illegal to clean a toilet there! And I'm not talking about just at Barney's Off The Beaten Path Gas Shack either...They're like that in the rest areas, and almost every restaurant.  4951

The toilets at my job do not have automatic flush so at least once or twice a week I get to flush someone else's mess before I can use the bathroom. Apparently for some people it's extremely hard to turn around and look into the bowl to make sure it's empty before leaving the bathroom. 4951
