..I got 2 free movie passes at Movie Tavern tonight. Nothing was wrong though...Everything was great! Our favorite seats are in the middle section, which is the same place where handicapped people would sit. And every time, we pick a backup seat in case anyone comes in and needs them. Well tonight that happened for the first time. I heard his motorized wheel chair before I even saw them. We got up, I apologized to them, they very graciously thanked us several times, I moved my seat down the aisle out of their way, and we went to our backups. A few minutes later, the manager comes by and hands me 2 passes for a future movie. Of course I asked her why?! She said that she's never had anyone move without being asked in that situation. And most of the time, it's a confrontation which ends up with her comping them some way. My only thought was: SERIOUSLY?? I told her it wasn't necessary, and tried to hand them back. She refused, thanked me again, and then walked away. The fact that someone feels the need to reward a person for practicing common courtesy/sense, made me a little sad. Even if I were to give someone the benefit of the doubt, and say they didn't know any better...There's a bright blue sticker on the table that has instructions for when that very thing happens. And I'm appalled that someone would actually argue when asked to move!! As my daughter and I were leaving after the movie, the couple thanked us again...As did a few of the other patrons/employees. Like that sort of thing is so rare, that it warrants acknowledgement.
