..I got 2 free movie passes at Movie Tavern tonight. Nothing was wrong though...Everything was great! Our favorite seats are in the middle section, which is the same place where handicapped people would sit. And every time, we pick a backup seat in case anyone comes in and needs them. Well tonight that happened for the first time. I heard his motorized wheel chair before I even saw them. We got up, I apologized to them, they very graciously thanked us several times, I moved my seat down the aisle out of their way, and we went to our backups. A few minutes later, the manager comes by and hands me 2 passes for a future movie. Of course I asked her why?! She said that she's never had anyone move without being asked in that situation. And most of the time, it's a confrontation which ends up with her comping them some way. My only thought was: SERIOUSLY?? I told her it wasn't necessary, and tried to hand them back. She refused, thanked me again, and then walked away. The fact that someone feels the need to reward a person for practicing common courtesy/sense, made me a little sad. Even if I were to give someone the benefit of the doubt, and say they didn't know any better...There's a bright blue sticker on the table that has instructions for when that very thing happens. And I'm appalled that someone would actually argue when asked to move!! As my daughter and I were leaving after the movie, the couple thanked us again...As did a few of the other patrons/employees. Like that sort of thing is so rare, that it warrants acknowledgement. Emoticon  4951

@BBQguy:

Kind of sorry that happened to you. It would feel awkward to have to accept a reward for common courtesy. I hope your "date" night went great. 4951

Yay for free tickets. But I agree. Being aware of common courtesy shouldn't be so rare that it's recognized. Kinda like getting up so an old lady can sit down. It shouldn't even be a question.

If I ever find out that my kids argue with anyone over something like that, they'll have major hell to pay. 4951

@Sparkles: Our night was great! Emoticon
I was a little embarrassed, but that's not the point to this rant. Which I apologize for by the way. I don't like complaining about anything really. I'm about as laid back as one can be. But the more I stewed over it after coming home, the more I wanted to say something. Heather just gave me that little extra push. Emoticon  4951

Yay for free tickets.

@taramay: I don't know if I can use them. They feel like "blood" tickets. I'm sure the coupon queen won't let me get rid of them though. Emoticon And even worse, these are given out normally for an "inconvenience" according to the print on the ticket. Emoticon I know it may kinda seem ridiculous, but the whole thing really does bother me.

So you sat at a place marked for the handicapped then moved and were rewarded for using a spot reserved for someone else, did I get that right?

@Stealth83: I am totally shocked this came up! Emoticon
They are for anybody, unless someone "in need" comes in. That's what the "blue sticker" I referenced says(or along those lines). And I asked this question to staff several times when we first started going there. They always said the same thing as the sticker...You're more than welcome to sit there, as long as you please move if asked. I've been there dozens of times, and this is the first time that happened. We always get there early, and getting that vantage point is one of the reasons. That may sound a bit selfish, but they really are perfect. Emoticon  4951

Yeah, I wouldn't want to redeem those either. They'll think you were a complainer and hawk in your drink. 4951

How is this any different than parking in a reserved handicapped space?

@Stealth83: You're right...It's exactly the same!

No @BBQguy there is zero comparison in parking in a handicap space and sitting where you did at Movie Tavern.  Zero.

@Fallon: Obviously...I just didn't feel the need to be right. Kinda like ending an argument, that's going nowhere, with your spouse. That, and I couldn't find the sarcasm emoji. Emoticon  4951
