Some people will take anything the doctor prescribes. Not all prescriptions are bad, but don't get me wrong how many are prescribed that are unnecessary, but cause a slew of other problems. I know someone that swears they have to stay on blood pressure medicine, but j guarantee if they dropped a few lbs by stopping that fast food and soda habit and they actually did something in the gym they could lower it naturally. Gahhh rant over sorry that just baffles me. 4951

Guess I failed to mention this person is whining how even with this holy grail medicine their blood pressure is still high. Weight loss and diet for the love of the arteries! 4951

@topcat: The presentation is a little crass, but the message is spot on. 4951

I can't tell if we are talking about prescriptions or just fat shaming someone. 4951

@ForeCPA90: Either way, the previous comments have pretty much said it all.  True friends come in all shapes and sizes.  Yes, it's best to be in prime condition and perfectly healthy, and there are several people here that are working on that goal, but this chubby shaming was just so out-of-the-blue, mean-spirited and random.  Sort of sounds like one of those cut-throat mean girls from the movie HEATHERS or CLUELESS.  Sorry, @heathur, no offense.  And another thing, there are some people suffering from HBP who are actually in their prime, the best shape possible, who just happen to have the condition that is completely non-weight related.  My Dad, when diagnosed with HBP, was 25, in the military (82nd Airborne), qualifying as a Jumpmaster.  They don't let you do that without being in fantastic shape and knowing your ****.   You, my dear, know absolutely NOTHING about Southern Charm.

Some of my family members take blood pressure meds.  My in laws lost a ton of weight and still have to take it b/c it is a genetic problem.  My husband will be on it no matter what he weighs b/c, again, it is in his genes!! 4951

If I may "weigh" in, I've lost over 30 lbs and though I still take my BP meds, my numbers are nowhere near the border levels they were.  Plus, my HDL went up.  My energy level is better.  I feel emotionally better.Exercise does good things for sure.  Changing diet could do even more.  4951

@SouthernCharm: Easier said than done  you skinny little know it all.
And i am trying to watch my language.  There are so many bad words i would like to respond with.  Until you are in someone elses shoes you should not judge them.   Even athletes have died from high blood pressure, heart attacks, etc... Don't be a doctor if you aren't one.  I am sure you are not perfect and have bad habits you fight with.   4951

@RogueHippEE,  My nephew will always need BP meds too, genetic for him, regardless of physical fitness or nutrition.  4951
