Does anyone know who I can call about a raccoon in my yard.  I have seen it the last couple days running across my roof and right now it is sleeping in a small tree that is swinging in the breeze and doesn't care that the dog is barking at it like crazy.  It's sleeping but I thought they weren't supposed to be out during the day.  TIA 4951

Animal Control but not sure if that is city or county.  That is a bad sign it's out during the day.  Just wanted to add call 311 - I believe they are open and ask them.... They're suppose to have all the answers. 4951

Call a wildlife pest control trapper and they can catch it in no time. My employer uses these guys when we have problem animals.http://houston.crittercontrol.com/ 4951

We had a mama raccoon in Eagle Springs that did just that.  She was hanging out about mid-morning, just kinda 'plopped' down on an outside eave like she was exhausted.  Legs hanging over and occasionally panting and she didn't seem to care if we were nearby or not.  We figured out she had babies in our attic and was apparently just taking a break from their care.  She eventually left and we never saw her again.   4951

Well I called 311 which directed me to BARC who said I have to trap it and remove it.  Tried Animal Control and they told me to call a trapper.  I don't think they are in my attic at this point because we haven't heard anything upstairs or seen anything when I went with a flashlight.  I saw it run across the roof the other night.  We still have the squatter house next to us which is full of garbage in the house and yard so I think we are going to get everything here.  My dog is stupid though and I'm afraid she is going to get to close to it.  It picked the smallest tree to sit in that sits just above the 6 foot fence and is literally swinging in the breeze.I have to put out $700 bucks this week for my DH to have an MRI so there is no extra funds to hire a trapper.  I am just going to have to keep an eye out and have my DH take the dog out because she listens to him better than me. 4951

@dotti573, they come out during the day to find food when they have babies. I guess it's safer than at night when the nocturnal predators are out and about. 4951

Sorry but personally if you don't like living in the woods where there are wild creatures why would you move to kingwood?? Hello it's the livable forest ! These poor things are ran off from their habitat because we just gotta have more shopping and apartments. Just leave em a bowl of water that's all that momma wants. And leave your trash can covered 4951

@dotti573:
Be careful if you use as trap. If she has babies somewhere and she is kept from getting back to them, she will go nuts trying to free herself. She knows her babies will die without her and will be in a total panic. She'll leave soon enough... 4951
