@FoFa: I know! We always talked about how easy it would be and now that we have decided to "pull the trigger," have no idea where to begin or what to do.
@RogueHippEE:
We did and are downsizing.
I started in 2010. Got rid of the 2400 sq ft anchor. The biggest and most expensive. We moved to a 1200 sq ft apartment. However in three short years it went from $1175 to $1675. Be very careful and read that fine print.
We dumped cable at $300 and internet at $65 for a hotspot at $30.
The one thing you have to do is decide what you cherish and what you can live without.
This is what I am doing and I hope this helps.
Take a bin mark it keep
Another for sell and one Donate
Get a trash bag too.
I started in my bathroom and wow the products were piled into the trash.
Our major issue is that we no longer want the big stuff. The pub table and two stools, tv stand, bedroom set, big cherry desk and side table and guest chair.
Our goal is to rv it from spring to fall doing a short three month winter rental.
We are heading into retirement. My goal is no anchors. For what our monthly bills are we can live quite comfortable and have a great view in an rv.
It's all this stuff. I've purged and purged and we still have stuff. 20 years of stuff. And to think I used to travel with a set of saddlebags and helmet.
I've been looking for a small warehouse to sell out of as I want no one at my house.
Our friends just dumped the big house, paid cash for a smaller one and all are so much happier. Including the kids.
Good luck.
