Take a drive around 59 & Little York...there are dogs dumped there daily. I work in that area unfortunately and see dogs in deplorable condition and dogs are hit all the time. I feed the dogs that come in our parking lot. It really bothers me how people just don't care. 4951

I grew up of of Hopper. It's just as bad there. When I lived in the area, I would make it a habit to carry water and dog food in my car for when I ran into strays that I couldn't catch and re-home. It breaks my heart to see an animal suffer, especially at the hands of human negligence. All creatures deserve love, and for an animal to love and trust someone unconditionally just to be abused or tossed out like yesterday's new is positively deplorable. 4951

@bp2018: Let's not get carried away now!  All mosquitoes, ants, and roaches deserve to die a horrible death.  I agree with you on dogs though (except for those that chase my biking friends and bite them).

God bless every soul who does what they can to help even one of God's little creatures.  Personally, I think dogs got the best of His gifts. They are loyal, loving, protective, resilient creatures who deserve better than than humans as caregivers.  They forgive our failings and open their hearts to show us unconditional love.  How much better would this world be if humans acted even a little more like our dogs?   4951

I have food in my car too. People just think that because they are animals the can take care of themselves. They can't, humans domesticated them and bred that out of them so it's the humans that need to take care of them. If you can't, don't own animals. 4951

They call that area the Corridor of Cruelty. So many dog fighting rings in that area. You wouldn't want the COH to do something about that! There was a group that would pick up dogs from that area & help the animals. I think they still do but renamed the organization. Can't think of the current name. Last time I was at Barkfest in town center I left a donation. That is such a sad situation. I have to say they must have done some good because I barely see a dead dog on 59 this year.  The COH says there are a million strays on the streets of Houston. 4951

@thegoodwife:

Corridor Rescue helps as much as they can. We donate monthly to help. They don't have a lot of room to get them off the streets unfortunately but the do have volunteers who come to the area daily to feed the dogs. If they had more resources they could do a lot more but I love the fact that they are doing what they are doing and trying to make a difference.
