Just looking for the norm or going rates. Are teens a different price than kids 10 and under? It is rated per month, per week, or per lesson? How many lessons per week? Are the rates any different for water babies? Is there a multi-child discount? Thanks!! 4951

All swim lessons are expensive. The YMCA has the most reasonable prices. 4951

Depends what you are looking for.  Group class typically are cheaper and are paid for by a session of classes, however many that may be.  And you are at the mercy of when the group meets.  I would recommend nothing larger than 5 kids per group for younger kids, otherwise they get little face time with the instructor.  For older kids who know how to swim, larger groups are okay but they still won't get the one on one attention.  Private lessons are great but of course, more expensive.  Some instructors will do semi-privates of two kids for a discounted rate.  If you go to a facility like the YMCA or FINS you are again at the mercy of the places schedule, even for privates in many cases because not all lifeguards are also certified swim instructors.  At a facility a fair rate for private lessons is between 45-50 per child per lesson (at least the places I always worked).  Group lessons are usually around $125 or so for a set of about 5 lessons once a week.  Every place is different though, and keep in mind some places (like YMCA or KCC) require a membership as well.  Generally, the price for lessons is the same regardless of age as you are paying for the skills and time of the instructor, not the skills of the child.  A place like FINS or the YMCA is going to have set lessons and schedules with some variability if you do private lessons.  Not bashing them, but the YMCA tends to have very young instructors (high school and college) so if that is not okay with you, that may not be your place to look.  Not sure about FINS.  My gripe when I worked at the Y in CT was that they were charging upwards of $50/30 minute lesson and I was only making $12/hour.  I learned real quick to do my own private lessons outside the facility!  Send me a PM if you want more info or to check my availability.  Also keep in mind, you know your child best and it has a lot to do with your child and what they need in a learning environment as well as what works for the parent's schedule. 4951

That's what I was going to suggest. Maybe asking a lifeguard at the neighborhood pool if any of them teach swim lessons. Most of the time someone there does. I know my parents pool growing up, 3 of the lifeguards who also coached my swim team taught swim lessons at reasonable prices on the side. We're able to gain entry to the pool before it opened to the public or work with your schedule when it was open. 4951

I teach lessons! Typically $40-45/hour with discounted packages. The going rate varies based on private vs. group (YMCA is only group I believe, which is why they are the cheapest), but I work to make my prices affordable even for private lessons. Sunsational Swim School also offers lessons (currently running a seasonal discount) and they have several instructors in the area that can come to your pool. 4951

Its summer, you should be able to find someone at your area pool. Off season, join lifetime. Membership plus swim lessons are cheaper than fins and you get a whole club membership plus pool time anytime. Its also just about as cheap as the Y and has great coaches.

Lifetime usually gives first month of lessons free plus signup bucks to apply to your classes. There is one in kingwood and atascocita/humble

My daughter and I pay 85 a month for both of us and have full use of pool and all equipment at any opening hours. Her first 4 months of lessons were free because they are 50 a month, I got 150 sign up bucks and one free month. After that I referred 2 people that signed up and they give you 50 lifetime bucks per referral and got 2 more months swim lessons...lol 4951

Dear Swim Instructor,My granddaughter, age 3, will be staying with us  from June 26th through July 2nd.  I would love for her to have private lessons in our pool in Foster Mill.  Annabelle has had some baby-swim classes before, and she is not afraid of the water.    4951

@pieknikpw: I would love to help, but I am going to Corpus this weekend, leaving Friday.  So I don't think that would be very helpful to you since she is only here a short time.  If you wanted, I could take her on Tuesday the 30th around noon and Wednesday at 230 if you came to the pool at Trailwood Village.  Feel free to give me a ring at 832-510-6020 and leave a message; I am teaching all day today Emoticon

I work independently but also teach with Sunsational Swim School and AquaMobile Swim School. In the past, I have taught at Kingwood Country Club and local community pools through Jeff Ellis Management. @CBP210 4951
