Apparently my EZ tag got hacked.... I opened my email and there's a message about my old credit card (which was cancelled last year due to identity theft) I had on my EZ account that was reject when it tried to auto charge. I hardly use my EZ tag anymore and haven't used it at all this year and still had over $30 on it. It was used this past Friday and Saturday; I was at work Friday and sent the whole day Saturday with family. I thought well maybe it was one of the 3 previous vehicles I had (that are and have been inactive on my account) and that maybe the new owners went through the tolls; and the thing is, it wasn't even the tolls from around here, but in like Irving and Carrollton- I've never been out there! But the weirdest thing is it showed the license plate that was used was my vehicle I have now. How did that happen??? Ugh, time to call EZ Tag and gonna try to keep my cool... it's going to be a long day and it just got started EmoticonThankfully I have coffee!!! 4951

I didn't even know an EZ tag could be hacked! I guess I should look at my statement every month. 4951

I have found that the eZ tag folks are easy to deal with.  It's not their fault. 4951

I do only because one night my husband & I got lost and ended up on the Hardy Toll Road, when we were approaching the toll booth I asked him for money, because I knew I didn't have any cash & neither did he! I drove up to the Toll Collector & he gave me a post card that told me what I needed to do. I did it first thing the next morning and ordered an easy tag. 4951

@thegoodwife:  That's that I thought! I usually just put my emailed monthly statements in the trash folder, but I guess from now on I'll have to look them up.

I've been here 40 and will never get one as long as there is a freeway. 4951

Exactly! Unless I absolutely have to use it then I go with the exact change lane. 4951

I have the EZ tag cuz of where I used to work, in case I ever needed to use the Beltway due to high traffic or was late for work. But I don't use it anymore and thought that I might as well keep it and eventually use whatever I have left and then cancel it. 4951

@lilmama09: Doesn't sound like an EZ-Tag issue (other than the charges), sounds more like DMV needs to be contacted to find out why someone has your plates, or is using a falsified plate that looks like yours! Cost us $7.00 to get current plates changed this year to new plates (don't ask, long stupid story).

Yea, I'm waiting for them to call me back after they pull up the pictures. And I just updated my license plate number today on my account because it still had my temp listed. I'm eager to see what they find.  4951

@squirtismyboy: I work in Tomball - I am on the toll part for maybe 2m each way and pay $1.45 each way. Frustrating but, unless I want to take 1960, the Beltway is the fastest way for me to get to work.

I had one about 10 yrs. ago when I worked on I10 in Houston/Katy area. But when I left that job I closed my account. Then after having no cash I purchased one.  In March on my b'day I took the HOV from downtown to the McKay exit of the HOV to meet my husband for dinner. It's never shown up on my statement. I guess it was a birthday present from the HCTRA... 4951
