While I like many different hot sauces, the Louisiana Hot Sauce made by Bruce Foods has been my favorite for many years.  Good flavor with just enough heat.  However, the last bottle I used seemed to lack flavor and heat.  It appeared to be diluted.  I thought maybe it was a fluke.  I used up that bottle and opened a new bottle purchased at a different time (and maybe different store).  It is diluted as well and now resides in the trash can.I contacted Bruce Foods to complain and their response was that most of their hot sauce product line (including Louisiana Hot Sauce) had been recently sold to Southeastern Mills.  The labels on the bottles still show Bruce Foods.  So my guess is either Bruce Foods is still making it for Southeastern Mills and just doesn't care anymore, or Southeastern Mills has messed with the recipe.  I sent an email to Southeastern Mills today and am curious about what they will say.   There are too many hot sauces out there for them to be messing with a proven product.If the product is going to remain diluted, I'll be looking for a new favorite hot sauce.  I like Crystals and Cholula.  Anyone have any other recommendations?  I use Tabasco, but only for certain things.  I like a good moderate hot sauce for everyday use. 4951

Cholula fan here too.  The stuff that they make at Treebeard's is good and they sell it from their restaurant I think.http://www.treebeards.com/shop/ 4951

That makes me sad! Emoticon Louisiana Hot Sauce is the best by far, IMO. I haven't bought one in a while, because I keep several different kinds here...I hadn't noticed the difference yet. Frank's Red Hot is my daughter's favorite, and I always keep a Trappey's in stock too. One that I've used for a while now is Don's. I stopped into their place on the way back from IL one time. They had an awesome selection of goodies. I grabbed a bottle of their hot sauce(and some boudin of course), then headed home. I've been ordering and/or stopping by there to get a new bottle ever since. @Retired_Engineer: That's the brand we use. That's too bad. They messed up a really good product. 4951

@BBQguy:

This one is a Habanero and Tabasco pepper blend...a little more kick than Frank's Red Hot 4951

@Ray: Taste like spicy vinegar, not really a fan unless nothing else is available.

@FoFa:  I have to agree.  Tabasco has good heat but little flavor.  I like it for some things.

I've tried some of the habanero variations and they are usually too hot for me.  The cayenne pepper sauces seem to be just the right level.I've tried a Jalapeno sauce but I prefer raw or pickled jalapenos. 4951

I think if my Cholula's became unavailable or it was downgraded, I would probably move to; 4951

I feel your pain, @Retired-Engineer.  I'm a hot sauce fan from way back.  I've always liked the taste of Tabasco but it's too much heat for as much as I use.  I've been using this for years...and am now having a bit of trouble finding it.  Our local HEB carries it now only in the small bottles.  I stock up.  It's only 98cents for this little bottle.  I use it on everything!

sorry - duplicate post., so I'll take the opportunity to say I do NOT like Sriracha.  Don't understand all the raves about it.  That or Cholula.  Yuck. 4951
