I have a issue with stray cats and well ive called the houston SPCA the montgomery county animal control and no one seems to want to come catch these guys that are in my garage and making it impossible to restore my life to normal. At the same time i cant let them starve to death so ive been buying cat food and liter to accommodate them as long as possible until some one can come get them no one wants to help, and we have tried numerous times to attempt to catch them but those little guys are quick and are hiding in all the nooks of my garage please help I need my life back!!!! 4951

Well, you've been feeding them. So now they're yours.

Stop feeding them and they'll leave. 4951

@taramay:

I don't believe that. I believe she will find starving cats.
Same thing happened to my friend. She had two liters in her garage. Same cat. She found some homes but had to shoo them out.

If you can trap them, see if they can be fixed low cost and they will clip their ears and you re release for rodent control.
That is all I can help with sorry. It drove my friend insane.

But if they were truly strays, you are under no obligation to house and feed them.  4951

Get them out of your garage - you can still feed them but at least get them out of your garage.  Back in the day, I had friends who were paid to thin out the herd with BB guns.  This was in a rural area, and sounds cruel, but there was only so much food to go around and nobody took feral cats in to be snipped anyway. 4951

Toss the food, everyday, over the fence into your neighbor's yard.  Then they will start hanging around there instead of at your house. 4951

I like @donnatella 's idea. But only after getting them spayed. Otherwise you will have a dozen more by the end of the year. 4951

How'd they get in the garage in the first place?  A cat isn't like a rodent that can fit through any hole that they can get their head into, is it? 4951

I had a neighbor that moved in with a pregnant cat. She had the litter then kept all the kittens, didn't get them fixed. They had kittens. At one point I swear they had 20 cats they were feeding--all in a rental house--and letting run all over the neighborhood, spraying, peeing, crapping, mainly in my front garden since I was directly next door to the cat house. A few of us decided to buy traps and start catching them. Once they are trapped animal control will pick them up. I must have trapped 8 cats that got hauled off. Between me and my neighbors we reduced the population down to a normal level. Those neighbors finally moved after they were down to one cat. Sounds awful but seriously the situation was out of control. 4951

Your best bet would be trapping the cats and taking them in to a shelter. We have a pack of dogs roaming our neighborhood and Montgomery County Animal Control has proven to be completely useless in coming out and resolving the situation. 4951

You need to call BARC    (713) 229-7300.  They are responsible for animal control for COH.  I assume that you are in the city part of Kingwood. 4951
