So, dudes, last night, the hubbs and I loaded up the boys to take a lil' drive and check out how Lake Houston was looking on the Atascocita, and Huffman side, and both of us could NOT believe the idiots that were out on Jet Skis, and Boats...  I kid you all not....First, about the water though, Lake Houston has risen so that the pier at Cedar Landing was completely submerged, (but the restaurant itself was still open for business,) and the docks / piers at the Huffman Marina (across from Cedar Landing) was basically to the very edge on a few, and covered the others...  At the Atascocita Shores Marina, the water was up to the bulk head....  The Lake Shore Villas Apartments pier was also completely submerged....   As were the boat docks belonging to individuals on both sides on Lake Houston, (people living in Atascocita Shores, and The Point) ....Anywho, needless to say the water is extremely high, with visible floating logs, branches, trash, debris of all sorts, and here these IDIOTS, with absolutely NO common sense it seems, are out in that, and obviously NOT giving a single thought of the dangerous, and very possible deadly consequences, in they were to hit any of this floating matter, lose control and flip over, etc etc....   Not to mention the snakes, and mounds of ants that are out and about....  So, Please, Please, Please, Practice Common Sense, People....   This is NOT a drill... 4951

@klp1972: When I see people doing stupid stuff like that, I literally do the same thing the Boxer in your avatar does. It's ridiculous.
@herron1345Well said sweety. It sucks when people have the "blinders" on and are oblivious to their surroundings.  4951

I know some people who were out on the lake yesterday.  They were filming for a school assignment.  They are very familiar with the lake and knew the dangers.  The water is only getting higher!  I've seen a few boats on the lake again today. 4951

Thanks for you concern.  These particular kids have lived on the lake for years.  They will not be on the water again for a while and would not have been out there if it weren't for the assignment deadline. They also had people on standby in the event of an emergency. There are dangers everywhere you go, don't be too quick to judge others.  I can't speak for all those on the lake that you saw yesterday but these guys weren't out for a joyride like the teens that needed to be rescued in the Magnolia area. 4951

Omg school assignment. More students in polluted waters. Wth

Thanks Herron we were gonna head on over to check it out.
Great teaching moment for your boys.

As for the fools and their water toys.

When they hit one of those submerged docks, levees, trees, park benches cemented in and God knows what else, please do not clog our court system with their frivolous lawsuits. It would also be beneficial to the rest of us if their insurance refused to pay due to negligence.

Why would there be a school assignment to get out on the water during this time?  That is just using poor judgement IMO. Our first responders have their hands full and honestly, there are people that just are making stupid decisions that end up being a news story. I frankly, have little patience for folks that put themselves in harms way and ignore common sense and caution. 4951

@monyhoneyI don't see where @Fallon was judging anyone at all, my friend...  And I surely do NOT believe that any kids, school assignment or not, no matter how long they've lived near, or around, water, has any damn business being in these high bodies of water right now...  I agree with @soxs mom  , **** poor judgment on the school officials part, if it was in-fact, school related...  I mean, we have Law Enforcement urging people to stay off of the water....  There's simply too many dangers...  Life Jacket, double Life Jacket, top of the line swimmer, been raised on the flippen bayou, it simply DOESN'T MATTER when Mother Nature is at work....      4951

I had my niece watch a show on water current. Even these ditches etc are running. The top may be still by that under current can be swift. Get into a tide pool ya better know how yo get out.

As far as schools go, I whole heartily believe in outside hands on learning.

But not in an emergency situation.

These men and women have been working or on call around the clock. When someone does something so stupid it really puts them and anyone they are trying to rescue in more danger.
Teachers who ignore common sense should lose the right to teach anyone.

There are many people judging the decisions made of those out on the water. I have been to several rivers and lakes which had currents as swift as what I am seeing now and boats were able to navigate successfully.  The debris I have been seeing flow by is concerning and I would not recommend going on the water right now to anyone.  I don't like to go on the water after a regular heavy rain because of all the garbage and debris that is churned up.  I was merely commenting that the people I knew that were on the water were aware of the dangers and know where the docks and channels are in the lake and were finishing up a project. 4951
