I woke up this morning to check on the fur children with the storm, and my whole house smells like sulfur/rotten eggs/awful...

I don't know what it is or what to do about it!
Any ideas???? It is like the sewage pipes are regurgitating gas or something. 4951

@LuluLayla: Also, is the smell only in the house? Check and see if it is outside too. Could be a neighborhood leak. Do not use your phone, turn anything (light switches, TV etc) until you figure out the smell.

I would call the fire department.  When that happened to me we called centerpoint and it became a HUGE nightmare.  They took our entire unit.  Call the fire department. 4951

We had an outside leak and called Centerpoint, they sent out someone with a detector, found the leak outside and fixed it same day. 4951

Centerpoint is bogged down with power outages. HFD would be the best option. 4951

Don't turn anything off or on. Just leave. That sulphur odor is a gas leak.
Call Centerpoint or your plumber. 4951

@friday1:

I would think electric and gas are seperate..a gas leak seems more important for them to fix immediately.
All HFD can do is turn it off, maybe unnecessarily. 4951

@LuluLayla: If you live in this area your heating and hot water should be gas. Follow the recommendations and get help. Keep us posted.

Thanks for the advice! I got the Husband to get his dads buddy out here who is a contractor, and he said it isn't a gas leak, just back up from flooding or something or another. I didn't quite understand, but I let them figure it out.

Thanks again y'all for the heads up on it possibly being gas!

I'd much rather handle a plumbing issue than a gas explosion. 4951
