Im very disappointed with Kingwood High School and Humble ISD. The school knew it had no power and yet they did not inform parents nor anyone about it, it's so disappointing to have found out about it through my daughter and when I went to pick her up. they didn't want to release my her because we had to call the assistant principals but when I called no one would answer. They need to improve there communication systems with the parents. I'm not please knowing they had kept this type of information from the parents and didn't send an email until 2 hours into school. Very Disappointed. 4951

Congratulations! You win the whiners award today.    Yes it is inconvenient, yes the school might of handled it better and it is more likely the school district is dealing with more than Kingwood High, or possibly had expected the electricity to be on based on facts you are clueless to.   Kingwood compared to much of Houston and much of Texas is doing pretty well, no massive floods, roads are passable.  Maybe you could teach your child that life happens, things happen that are out of peoples hands and that this is very minor inconvenience compared to what else is going on in Texas today. 4951

I think the district was right to call to call. Not all schools had power issues. However, KHS could have made the decision earlier to call off classes knowing that other areas of Houston will have priority over Kingwood. Oh well.  4951

I was a student in 1983 when Hurricane Alicia hit...no power for 2 weeks, we had school, what is going on today is crazy....let the little kids suffer a little, no power, ok, so why do you have to rush over and pick up junior, are they not old enough to walk home themselves? 4951

I received two emails on the issue and think they did as best they could.Do you have a better way to ensure 2000+ students get released--in a building without power-- to their parents? I'd love to hear it. 4951

I agree the school does have the responsibility of letting the parents know, but kids at KHS are not in Kindergarten anymore. They can text us if they need us. KHS has almost 3000 kids and I'm sure 3000 parents with the same attitude as this poster probably doesn't help the situation at all. I would have went in with my child if I saw they had no power when I dropped them off. 4951

So now the parents are inconvenienced ? Well now you know how the rest of us who sit in traffic every Monday - Friday feel because its beneath the kids to either take the bus or walk to school. Please find something else to complain about 4951

There is a lot to consider when something like this happens. I think KHS did the best they could. There were a lot of parents/students involved in the mass exodus. A "delay" is to be expected. Don't make it a bigger deal than what it was. Thank God it was just a power outage and most something worse. I applaud KHS and all the staff involved in making things go as smoothly as possible. Most importantly, the kids were safe.  4951
