As some may know we just had our new house built. The grass has been down for about 6 weeks now. I know most people in Kingwood have a nice yard so I figure y'all are the ones to ask. Now that the grass is 6 weeks old and taking nicely, what do I do? Do I need to fertalize it, how offer should I be watering, and when should I cut it the 1st time? 4951

You can begin cutting it now (as soon as it's dry enough).  You don't want to make ruts with the wheels.  Just don't cut it too low.  It's gotten plenty of rain so you should water depending on how much rain we get from here on out.  I don't think I've watered at all this month.  If they didn't fertilize it after  they laid it, now would be a good time.  Don't use a weed-and-feed fertilizer at this point.  Just a good fertilizer for the type of grass you have.  You want to encourage the grass roots to grow down into the soil. 4951

@mrnice:

I was always told not to water in the evening because it encourages mold? 4951
