Following received from City of Houston, Water DepartmentEmoticonublic Notice - Drinking Water Dear Customer,The
Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) requires that we
notify all customers of a State regulatory occurrence. Routine testing
in April uncovered an increase in naturally-occurring coliform bacteria
in one of our seven drinking water systems. There is no immediate cause
for concern or need to boil water. Continued monitoring,
investigation and system adjustments have addressed the issue in the
designated area, and City of Houston Drinking Water Operations staff
will continue to routinely monitor the entire system. The full notice is available on line: Click Here. 4951

Well of course they say there is no need to worry. They don't want to loose money by people not using their product. Every time they test something and the particles increase they just raise the fda recommended levels.

Thank goodness we have a reverse osmosis we use to drink. Guess I will look into a full house filter now 4951

Those are very expensive to buy and maintain and they will cause your water bill to dramatically increase. 4951

Then I guess it's bottled or boiled. I don't trust them. I'm wondering if this is what's wrong with my husbands health 4951

the city of houston water department and the fda are entirely separate entities. the city of houston has no authority to change any fda levels. and the fda does not regulate drinking water except in bottled water. the epa regulates drinking water on a federal level. the texas water quality commission regulates the water supplies in texas. as a footnote to this, the texas water quality commission, a state agency, did attempt to change the water standards to allow more radioactive background levels in your drinking supply as well as a few other goodies. they also used an unapproved scientific method for the testing and rounded numbers for the benefit of the water companies and departments. they were caught and their methods were disallowed.  gee i thought it was a great idea. think about it ...with a glow in the dark toilet, you don't need a night light...winner! 4951

@angiekaye:  After we were annexed by Houston,  our MUDs were taken over by the city of Houston.  So our water and sewage systems are owned and operated by the city of Houston.

I just use my Samsung fridge water. Higher end one I got last year. The filter is pretty good: Samsung water filters are tested and certified by NSF
International, a not-for-profit, non-governmental organization dedicated
to public health, safety and environmental protection. This
certification is widely recognized around the world as a guarantee of
safety and is your assurance that this filter has been tested by one of
the most respected independent certification companies in existence
today.Samsung water filters use only a high-grade carbon block which
removes over 99 percent of the potentially harmful contaminants that
may be present in your water. While retaining beneficial fluoride, this NSF Certified
refrigerator water filter reduces cysts, chlorine taste and odor,
particulates (Class I), lead and mercury.Filters up to 300 gal. before having to be replaced 4951

Yes but we have our own water supply from towers around here. It's not from a processing plant so to speak as like downtown 4951

The water we use in Kingwood, if it is billed from COH, comes from Lake Houston and is processed in a plant near Summerwood. 4951
