While in the search for a rental home or apartment for my family I am astounded at how much prices have risen. $950 - $1600 a month for a small 2 bedroom apartment... WOW... With apartments this high I am thinking about renting a house instead. Why pay so much for a tiny two bedroom when you can get a full house for the same prices.  Does anyone have any good advice or locations that I might checkout, I am looking to stay around or less than $1200 for a house or under $900 for an apartment? 4951

Maybe in Porter or Atascocita? Rental homes average about 1500 from what I've seen and apartments go for 1,000 plus. My dd pays more for her apartment than we do on the principal on our house 4951

Houses will run you an average of $1300 in Atascocita, apartments about $1000 in KW & Atascocita both. I think your best bet for an affordable apartment in KW is Town Center Apartments. Rentals are snatched up fast though. Best of luck! 4951

Park at Kings Manor has a couple houses for rent...not sure you'll find anything under $1400 though....you may consider looking in Humble or Aldine area. 4951

When we lived in an apartment near beltway 8 and I 10 on the east side near Wallisville our 900 sqft apt was about 1200 a month after a garage and whatnot.  We bought our home and our mortgage, insurance, HOA Fee, and other purchasing incidentals were significantly less than what we paid for in our apartment!  And our apartment wasn't even that nice!  Its crazy.  Luckily we had enough money to put down for a payment so we could get a house. 4951

Same here! We rented for 6 months and insisted on having a house by the time our lease was up. Closed and moved in with 3 days to spare and pay less for our mortgage, taxes and HOA fees that we paid in rent! 4951

what did you expect would happen when they tore down an apartment complex in kingwood while the population continues to grow and, in addition, banks are loathe to lend. it is simply supply and demand... 4951

Not all those house are all that nice. We searched and searched. We are nice quiet ( ok two irish sicilians) ready to retire folks, with a dog the size of most teenagers.
One house I just could not go in. I was gagging, hubby went in and came out blowing a gut. That was kingwood.
Rented at the preserve. It was nice. After three years we we priced out right before the sale. People have been fleeing due to the hikes.

I'm not in my ideal place but its, clean, bug free and I must say the landlady gets things fixed. She's wonderful.
Tonight they had a news bit about the cost. My husband works in the galleria area. Found a small house the other day. The lady called him back, $2,400 or 2,600 for 3 bedrooms.
Good luck my lease is up in August and unless a miracle comes, I'm staying put. 4951

Till people realize the pita it is to get to work. Sorry if you want to make money you have to go into town. Very few livable wage jobs in Kingwood. If your one of those who have a good little cushy office job good for you. 4951
